Makes sense, there’s no point in having it anymore if everything in your warband can be accessed by all accounts in the same region.

This is between accounts, not servers, yes?

Should make server xfers free. I miss my OG realm and x realm guilds makes thing w/e

According to the article, Yes. We can still pay for transfers between servers.

This service will still be available to use between realms and between World of Warcraft® accounts within a single Battle.net account. Please be aware that transfers between Battle.net accounts will not be available after the pre-expansion update has gone live. Any transfer tokens that you have saved to use on a transfer between Battle.net accounts should be used before this time.

This is between 2 BATTLENET accounts with the same owner name. ( A trick used by boosters and account/character sellers)

You can still transfer realms on your ONE battlenet account and across your EIGHT(8) License.

Wait what… are parents supposed to do??? These days they suggest creating a bnet for each child with parent’s name and control of it and when they turn 18 can hand over, having blizzard update to their name. However, that was not how it used to be, there was no bnet, children were not allowed to have their own accounts (now its age 13), they played under parents’ account. When my son turned 18 blizzard moved his characters to his own account - back where there was customer service. It was a nightmare mess; I am still missing mounts to this day. So, what is my daughter supposed to do when it’s her turn to make her own bnet? Don’t say make a level 1 and start over, her toon is 12 years old, far too much time invested in it, the history, collections, achievements and such is what makes it special to her. Also, the blue post is only 10 days old; I only just came across it a couple hours ago- it’s very short notice, and a bomb hidden in a seemingly innocuous titled blue post in a sea of posts, (hence 5 replies). It’s not like I can just pick up the phone and call customer service and ask to move her tonight…there would have to be a customer service to start with.

Hindsight is, unfortunately, 20/20. Some years back my son was pretty huffy about getting booted to his own account and losing the cool stuff that had been collected on my account.

The current alternative would be to start them up their own account early, in your own name, and then switch it to their name when they turn 13. But that would take even more of a time machine to help your specific situation out.

If you get your daughter her own license with her own Bnet account it’ll come with a free boost, at least. Maybe then you can go around and get some of her favorite “stuff” again together? Trying to look at the bright side. Also, with transfers between Bnet accounts it was always the case that accountbound stuff was left behind so you would’ve been in sort of a similar spot.

Hindsight is not an appropriate since there was no Bnet and it was required she be on my account until 18 and promised at 18 she can move to her own. At the very least she should be grandfathered in. The free boost is a slap in the face not a consolation. I have 7 boosts and transfers available to use already. Since there is no real customer service, I sent in a ticket with request to move her which is before the change tomorrow, but I doubt it will even be read until next week with the patch release and they will say it’s too late.

honestly between this and the removal of guild transfers this just seems like blizzard just trying to lazily cut costs. it’s really disgusting.warbands is not a fix for either of these problems. blizzard just doesnt care. there is NO reason to remove these services if customers want to pay to use them even WITH warbands they just dont want to pay for the little upkeep on these services. also this was given far less warning than the guild transfer announcement waiting until ONLY A WEEK before it went into effect.

I assume that something technical about Warbands building out the functionality of Bnet account integration makes it pretty much impossible, otherwise they’d be glad to keep taking people’s money for transfers.

Okay but like…you understand that moving a kid off to their own account never duplicated your accountbound collections, right? They’d take their inventory, and that character’s level and appearance, but they’d even need to change their name in the transfer if it was to the same server. All the mounts, pets, transmog, and other accountbound stuff would’ve stayed with the sending account.

It wasn’t like that before either and they didn’t duplicate - they split it, when my sons characters were moved anything done or earned on his were moved, it was messy and I lost mounts that were never recovered. It was a bad way to do it but instead of creating a good way for families to play and grow together they changed it to having 13 year olds (WTF!) own accounts to completely stripping a character on transfer and now not allowing it at all. I can’t say I regret raising them as gamers, playing with them growing up was fantastic but wish we had chosen a different game, blizzard is not family friendly which is dumb since families pay way more than singles and are more apt to play long term.

Sorry, I’m a little confused. I’ve had two accounts for most of the existence of the game. When battlenet came along, both accounts were connected together, but required separate subscriptions. Over the years I have freely moved characters back and forth between these two accounts. Are you saying now I will not be able to do that?

Edit: And this is as of RIGHT NOW? So my characters are now stuck where they are as of today?

If the two accounts are on the same Bnet, you’re good to keep moving characters back and forth between the accounts under that Bnet.

Prior to this, as long as both Bnet accounts were in the same name you could move a character across Bnet accounts, but now you can’t.

Thank you, Jalanili. Glad to hear nothing is stuck. They probably should have been a little more clear about that.

I am just glad I can finally get my characters on other realms invited to my main realms guild once realms come back up. I do understand that I will have to wait till patch 11.0.2 before I can have access to the guild bank but with the Warband bank there should be no problem.
