Please do not make 18 month expansions the new normal. I’m aware that this is likely a gimmic to to make more money over a shorter timespane.
However, patch 11.0.5 is anything to go on, it looks like the content quality of individual expansions is being reduced in order to churn more put. I don’t know anyone who wants less raid or pvp seasons per expansion or having prematurely obsolete tradeskills after having invested so time working towards maxing out, not to mention alts.
We’re already paying a subscription, don’t take our patronage for granted… again…

The argument is that the last 6 months of a 2 year expansion is bad. I personally liked those 6 months because it was catchup time for achievements. But the Zoomers have no attention span so were shaving off half a year.

I knew someone who had a 18 month expansion and then gave birth to a 1 year old.

Which is why they should work to give more content per patch and shorter patch cycles rather than making smaller and inevitably inferior expansions. Wrath and Legion are still the gold standard in my view for being “full” expansions, despite any flaws.
Take the best of the old an merge it with the best of the new.

I didnt hear anything about 18 months being a goal.

If Midnight launches after 18 months of TWW then it will release in February 2026. So enough time to complete what is released? Probably depending on play style.

What did previous x.0.5 patches have that this one doesn’t?

Many content content creators have said developers have told them just that. And if the new road map is to be believed, then Midnight will likely launch in late winter 2026.

Chris Metzen already said World Saga will wrap up faster because it is a trilogy, and there is another trilogy coming after that. So 18 months with 3 seasons will replace the 24 months with 4 seasons model.

On one hand, yes, it’s gonna lead to WoW becoming a more expensive habit/game than it already is…
On the other hand, no more content droughts? I assume? Faster content cadence n’ all that.
TWW has left me pretty bored, though.
I was still doing a ton of things in DF at the same point during that expansion.

I’m aware of that, I’m not the one who doesn’t believe 18 month expansion are the plan, I’m voicing my concerns.
Exactly you can’t come out and be like BRUH WE HAVE THIS COOL IDEA and it’s 3 expansions and then bore your players to tears for the entire first act. How does that even work? LIke trust me bruh it’s gonna take like 3 years to build up while we sell you brutosaurs for $90!

10.0.5 added Storm’s Fury. People quit running that in probably about a month. That was it.
9.0.5 added no content.
8.0.5 didn’t even exist.

Well, we’re glad to hear your concerns. Now to accept what’s coming.
According to Ion, we would not get player housing until Midnight. But, if you look at the roadmap, the Housing banner is set for Winter of 2025. Also, there is no Season 4 in TWW. By my estimate, we will get Midnight on the stroke of midnight Dec 31, 2025 to launch us into the new expansion for New Year’s day. This means we will get Last Titan June of 2027, and bring us into 14.0 by January 2029.
