Dunno why anyone is surprised. This usually happens, because the back end of the game is a Frankenstein stitched together monster. Even if it is working perfect on the PTR they have no way to know what will just decide not to work because of some random inane issue on some random server rack. And fixing that issue causes another issue, ad nauseam.
Also Gremlins. I am pretty sure they have Gremlins.
