150% flight speed is suffering

Can someone that prefers old flying explain it to me?

Why do you prefer taking longer to get anywhere you want to go?

Can’t speak for everyone but…some people have physical disabilities which make dragonriding difficult to manage, they made some improvements but it has also reportedly causes motion sickness for some players (as someone who gets this with any first person game, I sympathize), landing on a very small target can be difficult, regular flying does also have the ability to hover in the air without landing, not sure about all the uses for this but…that’s just a few off the top of my head.

Rocket mounts require engineering accessories.

More control on flight.
Hovering AKA pause.
Passivity.

Stop restricting things to a mosty useless profession.

Why are these things more valuable to you than getting to where you’re going faster?

Hovering = I don’t want to move.
Passivity = I want to alt tab and check something, answer someone.
Control = I don’t want to circle around or go max speed past stuff, but 10.0.7 is already fixing that with that stop ability.

I like DR, excel at it even, but I also like the ā€œpauseā€ button I’ve been missing.

So… land lol. Super passive. Stay in one spot. Problem solved.

ā€œI want to be able to alt tabā€ means you want to not play the game for a bit. That’s totally fine.

Then you can alt tab back into the game and shoot over to where you want to be instantly.

More like swimming. Traditional flying and swimming are identical.

You actually expect us to believe that you don’t do these things? That you never, ever have taken a break in the entire time you have played the game, because your mommy waits on you hand and foot in her basement, eh? Better than those morally inferior people who have jobs and family responsibilities.

This is what I call ā€œinvidious comparison videogamingā€, a player who plays a game that has many options, but thinks everyone else is doing life wrong if they do not play with his highly idiosyncratic and personal choice of restrictions. And they should be forced to play exactly like he does.

It’s pretty simple to me. Dragon riding is fun but can be a pain when mining and herbing. I’m not sure the increased speed makes up for the time zigzagging around to land on that peak or waiting for a little more vigor after you land. That’s all there is to it.

I would have loved to have regular flying. Then I wouldn’t be running into stuff when I try to go places. : /

Well dragonflight isnt even flying it’s just falling with style

That’s not how it works. There are pats on land. And players if on War Mode.
Not all places are suitable to AFKing, in fact, most aren’t.

Also, movement as gameplay eventually gets boring and repetitive, and I’m sick of DR already. I just want to set a heading and let my char go without ā€œhead up, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, adjust angle, 3. Keep looking if you’re not too low on your glide.ā€

Standing still also gives a sense of lost progress, while passive movement does not.

Finally, DRing from the ground to higher places requires at least 3 orbs not to be a total chore in lower altitudes.

My druid like to tame hunter for dungeons and raids that would help cat dps :kissing_cat:

To be fair though fast or not dragon riding is dragon gliding

I just want my dragon to hover, then I’d take it everywhere if I could lol

I mean I agree, but it sounds like you just need to drop 3k gold on faster flying.

Sometimes I like to enjoy the scenery. The slower speed and ability to hover are an important part of that.

Speed doesn’t help much when I’m doing short hops from pet battle to pet battle or gathering ore/herbs. The finer controls of regular flight help a lot, and speed is less important.

I was looking for an entrance to an area under a castle doing questing. I used dragonriding and kept flying past it when trying to search for it because I was going too fast. Ground mounts would mean dealing with respawning mobs and those were a hassle with my lvl 62 evoker. The ability to hover and slower speeds would’ve helped me find that entrance. With only dragonriding and ground mounts, I had to find a place to afk so that I could check Wowhead. If I had regular flight with the finer controls, slower speed, and ability to hover, then I would’ve been able to search for the entrance at my own pace instead of alt tabbing to check Wowhead. That took me out of the game, which I wouldn’t have needed to do with regular flight.

Those are just a few situations where I prefer regular flight.

Ah well, we needed someone to make another one of these posts.

At this point it’s hard not to see these as spam.
