"+15 Mage only" "MAGE"

stop this blasphemy.

fire mage is only good if you can pull enough mobs to take advantage of their uncapped AoE, otherwise you might as well just bring someone that does good 3-5 target cleave

M+

They don’t want us to be able to pull entire rooms and blow it up.

If you’re only pulling 2k on trash packs at 211 on aff thats a l2p issue

This is a really solid point. Fire is really strong in that one niche right now, but its a solid spec overall. I have to wonder if groups pugging a fire mage can really take full advantage. I’ve certainly pugged high ilvl fire mages and had them be … not great.

Mass AoE = Fun.

Capped AoE = not fun.

boomie has been overall mediocre since legion
warlocks are only good in raids, they’re mediocre/bad in m plus
only mage has been top tier since ever

Come on man warlock aren’t top teir like a fire mage or boomie for the mdi mythic plus but they aren’t “bad”

They could go back to you know, before they arbitrarily put it in…

that’s the point, the warlock kit doesn’t translate well into m plus; you’re better off with other casters in your group

They’re bad enough is the thing. We’re great in cases where the other two dps aren’t super bursty or when there are mobs / bosses in the dungeon that require extreme ST damage. And when DG + DS available we can pump with the best of them. But the problem is affliction aoe is very skill dependent, and the average warlock (myself included) doesn’t min-max it enough. So the average warlock sees relatively poor numbers except on bosses or on mega pulls. And if you use your CDs on a mega pull along with a burst class you waste everything.

Good, consistent groups on comms can bring a warlock who does decent. Never S-tier, but can be A-tier for sure.

But I need to learn Destro to see how it feels in M+, because that really seems like the sleeper spec that is ready to explode with even a tiny, tiny buff.

I know a demonology warlock who never pays attention to the Meta and has gotten KSM every season for at least the past 3 seasons.

Maybe people need to stop being melodramatic about “tHe MeTa”

Tell me what happens when fire gets nerfed? Answer: Another class takes its place. Then people whine about that class’s representation and the cycle continues.

What is up with this grammar? Dear sweet baby Jesus.

For mdi runs sure I agree lock isn’t a class you bring right now but for the average keys not trying to do mdi stuff we are more than viable and I def wouldn’t call us bad A teir is a great place to be for sure

Wish I could do timed 15’s for KSM.
Nowhere close to get the ilvl or skill.
That mount looks cool.

Aoe cap isn’t bad, needs a look at but the thing is, MDI is not a good gauge to see what is what, it’s literally a place like the world first race that people just do things to cheese content.

The encounters are mostly tailored with the cap in mind (some of the times). It would cause a huge swing to the other end of they uncapped it.

If it doesn’t impact my class, I generally don’t care.

Aff lock is B tier and Destro and Demo are last and third to last C tier.

DPS Tier List for Shadowlands Season 1 of Mythic+
…
9. Affliction Warlock (B-Tier)
…
22. Destruction Warlock (C-Tier)
…
24. Demonology Warlock (C-Tier)

This is my alt. This is a cozy alt. My main, however, really suffers thanks to the cap. Let’s just say the spec I play has extremely inflexible AoE.

Yeah but in the time it takes for a warlock to cast seed of corruption, watch its slow travel time, impact and then wait for detonation, other classes have already killed 90% of the trash pack lol

I am saying we’re A-tier when played near-perfect (i.e. 85 percentile or better) and C-tier if you’re a bit below that. By comparison one would say even a very bad fire mage is likely A-tier.

Good warlocks will always be good, but warlock skill cap is so high and there are few specs more punished for messing up rotations than affliction. So when doing consistent groups we can shine, because we can plan CDs and learn and optimize, but because average warlocks are bad, PuGing is a nightmare. Even at 1330 IO (all 15s but one) I spend > 2h queuing for my last 15 dungeon (DoS, which I’ve timed at 14 on IO) and not getting invites. There are many reasons, but I can say for sure if I were a boomkin i’d have finished long ago.

Warlocks are variable, and this makes us look bad in the eyes of people forming groups. We CAN be good, but most aren’t. Even I’m just barely okay.
