This thread is a textbook example of how misery loves company.
Notice those that are already paying monthly are the most hostile and negative here.
"SHut up and pay".
Ironically, they are getting the game for free.

Again, Guild wars 2 is still up and running without a monthly cost.

GW2 has had its fair share of controversy for its cash shop practices too. Grass isn't always greener.

$15 for both Classic and Current WoW? Why are we complaining? Oh right because people didn't want Classic, they wanted a free game.

Separate sub tier = free game? Strawman logic

I love the BFA players who pearl clutch abot PS giving vanilla for free when they themselves are about to get classic. For free..
I thought you was out? Why are you still posting?
For what it's worth, when I played WoW I actually saved a lot of money by paying $15 a month. The reason is because I didn't buy any games during that time. I only played WoW. And if I'm having fun, I don't care how old the content is.
A company wants money.

Who would have thought?

That irony is completely blotted out by their gloating.
Blizzard owns this, every shred of it. All of the toxicity, all of the hatred, all of the betrayal.

schadenfreude

Some of us after over a decade of begging, are more than happy to join in and take a steaming crap on the company that betrayed us.

Ah, so you are throwing a tantrum and decided to troll the forums. Good plan there Joe....

Just shows that it would have been better to lock these forums to PAYING subscribers. This is why non subscribers and trial account can't post on the main forums.

schadenfreude

What a wonderful word. Ive had the translate speech file as my ex-wife's text tone for months now.
15$ a month

Hardcore player 10h a day/ 300 a month / 0.05$ an hour
Less Hardcore 6h a day / 180 a month / 0.083$ an hour
Average 3h a day / 90 a month / 0.167$ an hour
No time 1h a day / 30 a month / 0.5$ an hour

Beside enjoying the light emitted from your light bulb what other cheap entertainment can compare?

While the game might be overpriced, lets say you expected 10$ but its 15$ (tho you can buy 6 months and get it cheaper).
To me a game you have been waiting for years is a bit hard to pass on for 5$.

I think you are not that much of an avid fan of vanilla if 5$ deters you that much from playing the game you been aching to play for years and at a point thought will never be back.
I'd happily pay 20 dollars a month if it didn't have sharding

People spend more on weed and beer monthly, maybe even weekly, than they spend on a WoW sub. It's pretty cheap when compared to other entertainment. Not to mention that this subscription price has existed and remained static for its entire existance. This is how it's always been. What Blizz has done is give an extra server option for the same price. It's actually a pretty good deal. They could have very easily made it a 1 time purchase + sub and gotten away with it. (especially if it was a "collector's edition" sort of thing)
except I don't do either of those things and can freely get even new games for free through the magic of the internet. That's not even going on with how it technically costs less to go outside and maybe bike or some !@#$ in the good seasons.

Also hearing you need to shell out for retail to play classic is a turn off.

You don't need to shell anything out. If you haven't been keeping current, retail is free to download, the only thing you have to pay for is the expansion and game time. And the expansion is not EVEN required. You just have to have a wow account with game time on it to play Classic, and it doesn't even have to be active. $15 gives you both games.
I just donā€™t want to be part of the statistic of players paying for retail

That unavoidable. Blizzard tracks what metrics it wants to. I'm pretty sure they can see if you are playing retail or classic.

Is this real?

I'm not paying $180 a year for ANY game, let alone a almost 15 year old game that doesn't get content updates.

This is a bad move by blizzard, and it will definitely effect the amount of people playing classic.

They should have cut the sub price in half at the least.

If I was planning on playing for 5 years, that is $900.

let that sink into your head for a second...$900 to play a 14+ year old game for 5 years.

You could buy 60 games at $15 each for that amount of money, there is no way classic is worth that much.

You have to be some kind of wow addict if you think this is a fair price.

In my humble opinion. ā€œYour lossā€

I didnā€™t wait 12 years for the release only to be turned away by what was actually expected. /s
