12.1.0 housing PTR notes

The squire pet looks like a boy child. If being offended that some players would find that “stimulating”, then I am proud to be called a snowflake.

They have updated stuff this week though (pets can now path on floors!), so maybe they have given blueprints some attention as well.

Edit: they may have actually removed blueprints for the time being, or I am not remembering where one accesses them.

Where are we supposed to put these pet beds? Can they be sized down? Will they count as decor placement? Will pets also count as decor placement? Will pets have the ability to go through walls or doors?

If outdoor pets are stationary, do they have to stand or sit? Be by their beds? Like, how might we put our pet owl in a tree, and how might we put our pet deer in the grass?

So they act like any piece of decor really. You can move them wherever, and kind of “hide” them inside of other things, but from what I’ve tested it is temperamental as to whether or not the pet will actually appear, depending on how the bed is clipped into something or what that something is. It may have to do with the proximity of other decor? I’m not super sure. All I know is that yes they can be hidden in the floor, but good luck retrieving the bed on PTR without the handy decor list in the top right corner so… I don’t hide them in the floor unless I am good to delete the whole room to get the pet bed back.

Edit: so it looks like we can’t get the pet beds sunk all of the way into the floor now (it goes red just as the bed crosses the line and is completely hidden). However, since the flat top of the plinth is smooth, it might just take some creativity to finish hiding it (like under a rug or something)

Yes and up as well. I just checked and it seems that they fixed that as well where pet beds can now be scaled all the way down to 20% and the pet will still appear (wasn’t the case like a week ago).

The bed counts (looks like 5 points right now), so yes they count toward the decor budget. However, they said we will be limited to 10 indoors and 5 stationary pets outdoors when the patch hits so…

Um, I haven’t noticed too much in the way of them disappearing through walls, but maybe a little? They do path over decor which is good. Remember though their roaming is limited to a certain radius around the pet bed, so they only mosey about a few feet in any direction.

So last time I looked outside, they are stuck on top of their beds (think of it like a little stage and they just kind of stand there, maybe with some idle animations I think?

Well if it’s outdoors, I would use a bird’s nest pet bed and carefully place it up in the branches so that it looks natural, or I would find a thick branch to try to sink the scaled down pet bed into and cross my fingers that it won’t interfere with the pet appearing.

Edit again sorry: I forgot that all of the owls are essentially always flying, so sadly there’s no good way to make them look perched in a tree right now. They do look amazing flying around in an outdoor room though!

Well hiding the bed shouldn’t be too difficult so that it looks like it is just standing there, but they just won’t move around.

I’m making some video clips to show off pets on PTR that I hope to share soon, if that helps. Do you have any requests for some favorite pets and location?

If there’s a desire to make us happier about exteriors, please remove the faction barrier and let all 4 be used in either faction’s neighborhood.

You mean stacking 3 Empty Stairwell rooms on top of each other? I’d imagine you simply save them separately as 3 blueprints

No more posts about wanting level 10! Finally!

Where has there ever been a draconic house? A big cave? Eww.

Oh! a Kaivax visit!

Is that a racooter…on my computer?

:raccoon:

I wholly agree with this! They already have the assets in the game, usable. Just remove the faction restrictions. (Unless we find out something utterly crazy like they’re only set up for use in their respective neighborhoods….)

It would effectively double the number of choose-able exteriors for no real additional design work.

Someone needs to get out the cookies I‘m so glad a blue came in here lol.

Yeah, though in my case it is 2 Empty Stairwell rooms stacked (gives you 3 levels). Someone tried saving the ‘upper’ room on the PTR and it just saved the bottom room. I need to try to find time to go into the PTR this weekend to see if I can find a way - or report it if I can’t.

I just really like that room that I made and I really don’t want to try to rebuild it as the upper level is really complicated with stairs, an attic room, sloped ceiling for both the attic room and the main room and steps to an adjacent room that is a bit higher than the floor of the attic room of the stairwell. Since the room is designed to be a top level room, I really don’t want it to be trapped in the basement plus that room is also designed to be a main hub to access other areas as well.

Yay! A save room feature!

You didn’t specify that you meant leveling past 9. I misunderstood.

If level 12 is the .1 cap then it’s not really surprising that further leveling is going to be slow. Endeavors are “supposed” to be the primary xp earning method, but a lot of players have gotten to 9 or close to it with decor alone.

Fortunately both endeavor and item xp are saved on top of the current cap, so we should already be a decent chunk through 10 if not higher once the patch drops. Hopefully more decor is coming soon.

If for some reason the 2 rooms being on top of each other bugs out the save feature, maybe moving the upper room elsewhere on the plot might resolve this? Worth trying at least.

It was fixed a couple of days ago. I’m reflecting on my actions, I shouldn’t have revealed the news so early.

The upper room in a stairwell stack… can it be moved at all?

So a tiny round room? That’s it?
