There is potentially going to be a large fallout from having only a 5 month season. There’s going to be a lot of late CE guilds that are punished, even ones I’ve seen that typically get multiple reclears. They now either have to raid more, will likely just throw in the towel, or this is just going to put even more burden on guild leaders, which is already a large time investment. People are going to put months into raid and not even be able to finish it that normally do.
It is the precedent and status quo that has been set by blizzard for over 20 years. People assume they have x amount of time to get everything done then get rug pulled that time was shortened with no advanced notice.
They designed one of the hardest end-bosses of all time and then are cutting what’s normally a 6 month season a month short and no one had any opportunity to properly plan for it. My guild 100% would have extended raid at least 2-3 weeks sooner if we know we only had 5 months.
Also, seasons have been almost exactly 6 months since the beginning of Dragonflight.
2 day x 3 hour guilds for example are losing basically an entire 24 hours of prog time on it.
Yeah if they came out and said S1 would be 5 months that would be perfectly fine. Now it’s us and about 500 other guilds have 5 nights to finish off P3 and P4 in a fight that requires perfection.
22 weeks is a perfectly reasonable amount of time for a season. The kill count for L’ura will be around the same for every other tier aside from Gallywix (trivial boss) and Dimensius (30 week tier, way too long)
We’ve have a pretty consistent 8 week patch cadence and off the top of my head we’re in week … 6? (based on 3 quest cycles in each of the new zones?) … of 12.0.7.
So 2 weeks left in this season? (after this week ends)
So we should get the end of season warning announcement soon?
It’s still half the kills of the second to last boss which is a pretty big outlier compared to past seasons. I don’t see that gap being crossed in 3 weeks.
We can within the standard 6 month window. I’m confident we’ll get it still actually, but the problem you see is, people plan for 6 months and now without any notice or warning have 5 months.
Imagine you plan to have 6 months on a massive project at work, and then all of a sudden, they tell you you have 5 months right as you’re coming up to 5 months. You planned for 6, but here you are now having to finish it in 5 and this part of the project has to be near flawless.
