12.1 paladin feedback thread

Continuing the discussion from Midnight: Curse of Ula’tek PTR Development Notes:

That’s an interesting perspective.

I think another perspective would be that this class set highlights just how detrimental to HPal gameplay your changes to Infusion of Light have been in Midnight.

When players are willing to use a build that abandons Holy Shock, THE HPal spell, for the ability to reliably generate Infusion procs, it should serve as an eye-opener to just how vital the proc is to the fun and health of the spec.

I understand that Lightsmith is able to generate far more Infusion procs than Herald of the Sun. A reasonable conclusion would have been to reduce the number of procs available to Lightsmith. Instead, you chose to nuke the chance to generate the proc at the class level to reduce the high number of procs available to this one hero tree.

Imagine if you tried to balance raid dps like this. “Ret is dealing too much damage. Let’s nerf all dps specs by 40%. This will put Ret exactly where we want them.”

And now once again, instead of making a reasonable decision, you have chosen to ignore the elephant in the room and tack on an absurd increase in mana cost to the already-mana-intensive Holy Light in an effort to force caster players to use Holy Shock again. And if you’re willing to resort to such heavy-handed tactics to alter players’ rotations, this would seem to indicate that you were NOT actually happy with the rotational impact of the Venomous Abyss class set for Holy Paladin.

So instead of piling problems on top of problems, just revert the first one you made and bring back a reasonably reliable chance to proc Infusion of Light at the class level.
