So I have run into a weird problem. When I save the blueprint for a staircase room and then import the room I seem to lose 90% of the decor on the second story. They just dont load. Tried with multiple rooms, both complicated designs snd simple ones. But it always happened. Has anyone else experienced this?
Yes, multiple people on some of the Housing Discords have been reporting this.
On the plus side, the stairwell rooms save fine as part of a whole house interior blueprint so you can save it that way and once they get the bugs worked out of the blueprints for stairwells, you can import your old house blueprint, save those rooms individually, and then go back to your blueprint of your current house build.
This us unhelpful if you’re trying to raise the level of your home and have to import the rooms one at a time.
Stairwell rooms. This took a lot of trial and error but I tested it several times on both 2 and 3 level stairwells with no decor missing.
You have to save each ‘level’ as a room on a blueprint. 2 level stairwell = 2 blueprints - 3 level stairwell = 3 blueprints. Save the bottom level while standing on the bottom of the stairwell. Save the next level while standing at a point ABOVE the 2nd floor level (you can make temporary platforms if necessary and remove them later after the importing is complete). If you have higher floors, save them each on their own blueprint while standing ABOVE that floor level.
Armed with your blueprints, go to the floor plan editor and make a path for a connection point that will be at the uppermost level of your stairwell (even if you don’t want a connection there in your final build because this only works if you import the blueprints starting at the top level of your stairwell.
Import the uppermost level blueprint at the connection point and when it asks the direction of the stairwell, choose UP. This will create an empty level above your uppermost level. This is fine and it is the only way it will all connect properly. Now add the rest of the blueprints working down the stairwell by importing them to the ‘build down’ triangle on the stairwell room. You may have to change which level you are working on to see it.
Once you have added the final blueprint (and hopefully checked to make sure it all is there), you can then navigate to the level where that extra empty floor was put above the topmost level of your stairwell and delete that. Now your stairwell should be just the same as the one you blueprinted.
That does sound like a lot of trial and error. I will test it tomorrow.

Yeah, lots of trial and error. I think I accidently hit ‘up’ while importing from the top, saw the empty level on top and figured it was another fail but what the heck - right? So imported the bottom level of the 2 level room and it put it right where it belonged. I almost couldn’t believe it. I deleted it and tried to repeat it and couldn’t remember which direction so I hit ‘down’ and looked and immediately knew it wasn’t the way I had done it before because the empty level was below the decor instead of above it. I started over and imported the top level as ‘up’ and was able to repeat the success. I then went to my Horde house with the 3 level, deleted the interior (I already had all the saves but had not figured out how to put them all together), built up to the 4th floor so I could import my top (3’rd room level) at level 4 and then imported the two lower blueprints and it all fit together just fine.
It felt good to solve the puzzle but I really hope they figure out how to make it work with just one blueprint with one click.
I appreciate the work that went into making this post however it also demonstrates just how broken the system is. The bottom line is players should not have to jump through infinite hoops to make the system work the way it should. I’ll wait for them to fix it before doing all this just to get ONE room imported!
I can see why stairwell empty rooms have this issue, it looks simplistic enough but compared to all other rooms it is more dynamic. The function of adding floor levels is probably the issue, each level of it counts as its own room with the minimum being 2 by default. Adding each floor extension is another small room on top of it.
