12.0.5 patch balance/changes critique - MM hunter "overnerf"

I do understand that mm hunter cleave needed to be adjusted but it shouldn’t drop as much. Seeing the numbers coming in from the logs it’s falling behind a bit on cleave while not offering great boss damage. Marskman hunter should still be a bit more competitive than it is right now for people that played it for half the season, this type of heavy nerf is a bit toon strong in my opinion for the middle of a season and ruins a lot of people experience that were enjoying MM hunter. (I’m only speaking about pve)

There’s also concerns with the healer nerfs coming in when boss fights aren’t really in a nerfed state yet and that the power up from the voidforge is now known to come much later. A small buff to all healers could be a reasonable thing to do in my opinion (3-5%).

The change to the [Crown of Cosmos] fight in Voidspire also leaves a bit wanting as most people as far as I know were using the immune strategy to make it so you had one less tether coming from the [Aspect of the End] causing one less [Gravity collapse] so when you math it out that’s 33% less overall damage when immuning as there are 3 of them going out at the same time but the nerfs were only of 10%.

Still might want to mention m+ tank balance with brewmaster still much in the lead and while I am happy to see brewmaster to do well I do think small incremental balance changes to make other tanks a bit more competitive there could be a good idea if the idea is not to nerf brewmaster. To me this would incentive more tanks to play and push higher something that would benefit all.

Also just another small note haste really needs to do something better for brewmaster and putting so much haste on their tier set feels a bit awkward when they don’t really want much of it. Maybe in the futur being able to change stats on tier sets could also be a thing. There could be sockets on those piece of gear letting you customize their secondaries that way, they would scale much higher to fill up the whole secondaries budget on them.

And a final thought on crests right now being the real timegate. Even if you have mythic track pieces right now you might not being able to upgrade them which often leaves them as strong or weaker than heroic pieces. This seems a bit an overlook with current system in my opinion you should want to equip mythic track pieces even if you’re not being able to upgrade them but that isn’t really the case right now moreover if it doesn’t really offer better stats or doesn’t have a socket like the heroic piece.

I completely disagree. It’s a good example of how you shouldn’t have ideal stats on every piece, you shouldn’t be able to perfectly tailor all your stats. Having to figure out which of the “not ideal” pieces to combine for the best result is a great part of WoW gearing, and we’ve gone too far away from that. There’s too many stat combinations available for every slot every season, because you have raid and M+ both providing a few pieces per slot and then crafting lets you fully tailor everything. That ability to tailor stats has built a mentality where people expect perfect stat distributions every season. Necks this season are a great example. There’s very few stat combinations available, and people got really angry about that because “their” combination wasn’t represented, which I think is the wrong (and a boring) approach to gearing.

They don’t have to be ideal but in this case I feel it is more extreme than other cases when haste is nearly considered a negative stat and that each piece of tier has a lot of it so it’s not like you can play around it as easily when you want 4 pieces of tier.
