That isn’t what OP meant. OP meant rating was 1400 but was playing at 2.9k MMR. MMR and CR are different. For example, I hit 1822 last night in only 23 games, and my average MMR is 2.4k.

The higher the MMR the better because you can lose games and not lose rating. It gets bad when you go on a losing streak and your MMR and CR are almost the same. Players want to avoid that at all cost.

Theoretically, it’s possible. To reduce queue times, Blizzard often mixes players with a wide range of MMRs in the same lobby. So, when OP had a personal MMR of 1200, he could have been placed in a 1600 MMR lobby, winning in that scenario would result in a significant MMR increase. Later, at 1800 personal MMR, he might’ve ended up in a 2200 MMR lobby with players even at 2500 personal MMR. It’s a low probability situation, but not impossible, just rarely seen.

On the flip side, my DK was super unlucky: won all his first 9 games but kept getting queued with extremely low MMR players. 9 wins in a row, MMR was only 2.3k. Then 3 losses put him back to 1.8k MMR lol. It’s fine though, I actually need some toons seeded in extremely low MMR brackets so I can play them like random bgs.

Win traders arent the reason youre hardstuck challenger. Even me, a clicker with zero keybinds or macros i still hit duelist most seasons

I am currently at 1822 with a MMR of 2.7k. Trick is not to go on a long losing streak, I usually will stop when I lose 2.
