1.12 AV is a huge, huge mistake

Correct, that’s a BFA change.

Well blizzard politics, Anti PvP defeated the equality movement.
Its pretty much why retail sucks in terms of quality.

Most posts regarding earlier versions are more popular in classic forums then changes to dire maul.

I don’t want it sooner if it is NOT THE TRUE EXPERIENCE. That is why retail is so screwed up because they rush things out the door.

Ever since Activision bought Blizzard around CATA this game has been rushed, yea rush out classic just to get it out the door and people will play it and say this is not the classic I remember and lose interest.

Starting to think maybe I should look up a private server because there is NO way I am playing classic with this AV they picked, IT IS NOT THE TRUE EXPERIENCE and if you say otherwise you never played it.

It’s the Zerg retail mindset that kills AV. I had plenty of 6 hour AV’s on the 1.12 version all through TBC. There won’t be reinforcements so if you choose to defend it will be drawn out. Also, earlier version of AV with more mobs provides ALOT more honor per hour, so PvP players are kind of forced into AV to efficiently grind, with this version that is not the case.

+1 to add to thread count.

Like they should have done with scaling and the crap fest that is the new Barrens and 1Kn

they’re not going to. its like poetry. pottery. that at this point, blizzard has to blunder in one way or another. they just can’t make something all around good for their audience, they have to botch it in one way or another. that’s all they do now. with every game that has their name on it. they can’t help it

If this is true why is modern Alterac Valley the most blacklisted battlegrounds?

Because it isn’t optimal honor grinding, genius.

Old AV was my favorite part of vanilla. I get some people don’t like it but it was unique and doesn’t exist anymore. Not having it feels like it goes against the point of this project.

It’s funny, these posts remind me of the old discussion before Classic was announced. There were the people asking for Vanilla and the people saying “LUl nO oNe wAnTs tO plAy it”.

People wanting Vanilla were asking Blizzard to make it possible and those against were … well against for no particular reason other than just being able to argue over something.

Here it is pretty much the same. People asking for AV prior to the changes, and those who just want to argue for the sake of it without bringing any argument. Why is 1.12 better than 1.5 - 1.8?

Not that i care but the first version was definitely more interesting.

To all the people saying “Stop throwing a fit, Stop whining etc.” Can you calm down instead? Isn’t it the reason why we are getting these developers updates precisely the reason for people to complain if something doesn’t feel right? Instead we have white knights making threads to “Please stop complaining” Like wtf? Why are you people here in the first place if you believe Blizzard is doing everything right? I don’t know if this is current BfA players coming here and defending Blizzard or what but it needs to stop. They still have months before Classic releases so these developer updates are exactly the kind of thing they need feedback on and people NEED to continue to give that feedback. AV 1.12 is not the best choice they could’ve done by a long shot.

Blizzard needs to hear people agree with their decision just as much as they need to hear that they disagree with it. It’s a discussion with 2 sides.

Remember when Blizzard started this thing that they said not everyone had the exact same Vanilla experience, and when and where you started will change your view on things. This is the reason they wanted the feedback so they could more or less pin down what the felt was the better course of action.

While there are people that view 1.5 as the definitive AV, there are lots of people that also played that never saw that version, so for them the 1.5 would not be the " classic " experience.

When this all started people said they would be happy with a Vanilla server to play. Suddenly now if it isn’t the exact version they want it’s not really Vanilla. The reality is 1.12 AV is a Vanilla version of the battle ground, so it fits into exactly what Blizzard stated going into this.

It’s your opinion that 1.12 isn’t the best choice, for others it will be and neither is wrong nor right.

Those that support the older version have been putting the effort into explaining why earlier would be better, while the majority of the “supporters” are just here to undermine without giving reason beyond “blizzard knows best” and “ it was changed to 1.12 because people didn’t like it”. Many of the latter never played it, have no experience whatsoever with it, and are only here to add noise to the signal.

Well said. Pretty much sums up the white knights.

The weirdest this is that while many of them claim it was too long for them, others are claiming it can be zerged.

Nobody would lose with an unnerfed version, while 1.12 will literally lose them potetial resubs.

Most of the arguments for 1.12 only make sense if the person making the argument was a Classic WoW dev.

“Implementing 1.5 would be too difficult.”
“They don’t have the 1.5 code or data.”
“1.12 is the base version, so stop asking for another.”

Honorable mention:
“Adding 1.5 AV would delay the game.” (AV isn’t releasing on launch.)

We aren’t devs; we’re customers. Why do we care what makes their jobs harder? The only legitimate arguments from players for 1.12 are from the honor grinders and the people who don’t like AV to begin with and just want it to end quickly.

Also, my personal favorite:

“1.12 is the version we’re getting, so implementing 1.5 AV would be a change. You’re a hypocrite if you ask for 1.5 AV and are #nochanges.”

#nochanges is a contradiction right out of the gate because the game was changed almost as soon as it was released.

Well summarized.
