Like the ring we got in DF…they’ve run out of ideas it would seem. Watch that ring will probably be replaced by a piece of raid gear just like the one in DF was
You are smart and wise to recognize this pattern.
Technically gear in general is borrowed power. Even more so for trinkets. The thing that people did not like when it came to borrowed power in BFA and Shadowlands was how discouraging ‘respeccing azerite pieces’ or ‘swapping covenants’ were. For the former is was more for changing specs as you either had to have a completely different set of azerite gear for your offspec(s) or go to a dude and reset the pieces you have at an increasing cost. For the latter, tying player power to something that honestly should have just been a cosmetic choice (imo keep the covenant abilities such as door of shadows, soulshape etc) was the issue. Even more so since it changing covenants at launch was basically progression sucidie. It felt that you were better of just leveling a different alt of the same class if you chose the “wrong” covenant. Because you might be drawn to X covenant due to its looks and lore… but Y covenant is actually your BiS one. Also the bonuses in dungeons was somewhat inconsistent on how useful they were. Night Fae for the two Ardenweald dungeons were heaven on earth due to the skips / buff in Mists and the long duration stun (that also stunned enemies that are normally immune to stuns) in Da Other Side.
You mean the catch up ring will be replaced by gear from content that is meant to be stronger than it.
Imagine my shock!
Like did people actually think that the Onyx Annulet would last the whole Dragonflight Expansion? Despite Blizzard saying that it would be as strong as rings from heroic Aberrus at its absolute best. Just as they have said about this new ring.
But Blizzard is listening now
Meanwhile drop a patch, call it an xpack, introduce 100 problems and go silent
We’re at the point where people are complaining that gear and talents are borrowed power now, neat.
And go on vacation.
Sounds about right.
