11.0.5 Unintentional Frost Nerfs

Frost was never middle of the pack. By every metric in raid it was barely above augmentor taking 2nd to last place. Sometimes some other spec would temporarily displace it for 2nd to last place but a few days later and frost would reclaim its spot as the worst dps spec. It was fine in pvp after the nerfs where it IS middle of the pack. Its dead in the AWC outside of euro FMPs and we’ll see whether those teams can do anything to Feral Shadow. In m+ it saw play at the very high end of keys but outside of pushing absolute cutting edge content it was just worse than arcane and even AT the highest end arcane was still just as viable.

They don’t care about Frost. All this time invested just for them to completely change a rotation mid season, release a patch bugged, and not even address it days later.

insane its taking so long for them to communicate anything. acknowledge any of this stuff let alone actually fix something.

Appreciate the quick hotfixes on the unintended nerfs!

As far as the future - it would be great if splinterstorm was changed to have a 5% chance to grant brain freeze per splinter not per storm. Right now the specialization largely feels good, but has significant resource issues with flurry/brain freeze relative to Frostfire because of this scarcity from Splinterstorm.

While i agree they need to fix this, have u guys who say frost feels bad tried frostfire with ray? Its really fun and very much a mix feel between fire and frost and im really enjoying it. Competitively im doing decent im also not the best meters to judge off of but definitely wicked fun

Frost spellslinger no longer has an identity. It does not feel good or even relatively close to a “spell slinger” when the splinter storm is entirely passive without any direct input. Ice lance spam was FUN and required SKILL while perfectly encapsulating what a SPELLSLINGER should be. Quick, fluid and tons of instant casts. It felt so good to be able to glacial spike/lance together into a splinter storm and still have 2 winters chill which really created a dynamic and challenging rotation that required forethought, class knowledge and quick thinking to be able to optimally shatter.

Ice lance build is still viable, but it doesn’t feel good to play. There is no rewarding feedback of quad proccing a splinter storm and instead you’re incentivized to be cemented into the ground spamming frostbolt to fish for a low chance at gaining a flurry. And guess what, when you don’t proc it for 6 frostbolts in a row it feels HORRIBLE.

Also, how can you possibly shift a rotation to exclude exactly what the entirety of the tier set and spec revolves around. Is that a joke? I’d suggest that you change tier set too, but nobody wants that either. It is mind shatteringly dumb that the spec has shifted into this sad, simple and stupid frost bolt spam and you have completely removed any fun or logic associated with what once was frost spellslinger. Revert immediately

I swapped to Frostfire last night and was having fun didn’t take Ray but still feels better than current Spellslinger. Blizz really messed up the feel of the hero spec. There had to be a better way to regulate the “problem”

They claim to have addressed it in a hotfix late last night but honestly I wouldn’t take them at their word without verifying it first, lol.

I do feel a bit stronger now, but that might just be copium / hope bias that its fixed.

They really need to remove deaths chill, fractured frost and deep shatter, then put in it’s place the tier 2/3 of DF, and make splinter storm 5% per splinter.

This would finally kill frostbolt spamming, frostbolt has it’s place, but it should not supersede spending your procs, specifically fingers of frost.

Then bring the haste from frostfire from 1 to 2% just like you did with mastery, make excess fire/frost stack up to 2 and maybe slightly increase the proc rate of empowerment and the passive frostfire bolt proc.

Also please no more world of bugcraft. Seriously

Great recommendations, in addition I’d say find a way to make frost’s mastery benefit all the FF procs like meteor, burst, etc

Yes, it was something that was suggested sometime ago too.

They should also probably straight up buff up ice nova and burst from the excess procs to make FF AOE competitive with slinger.

St seems relatively well balanced between FF and slinger, but AOE it seems slinger pulls quite significantly ahead

Ps: FF and slinger st damage are not relatively well balanced at all lol, they’re as far apart as their aoe. So ff just needs a buff straight up.

Yeah it feels noticeably worse to do your rotation, I don’t feel like a spellslinger at all. The set bonuses really mean nothing now and I’m sad. It makes me not want to play.
