10/8/2020 - Repeated scan repair

Ok so, I sent in my logs as well. I can not access the game because it keeps attempting to repair files. This happened after I updated the battle.net launcher

I am also having this issue since the patch last night.

So what files specifically do you need because I cannot send you the entire log file because of gmail

My launcher was fine as of last night (Oct. 8th). When I got up this morning to do some quests before work this happened when I opened the Bnet launcher. As of the afternoon of (Oct. 9th) it still seems to be happening.

Same here must be the launcher… We just had an update of it , very recently. Enough people complain and it will be resolved

Same issue.

By the way, in response to Kaldraydis’ blue post above, it’s asinine to suggest that a common issue that JUST started appearing for hundreds of users is related to their local setting and your suggestion is to do a complete wipe of all their addon settings and configurations.

I 100% agree. This answer is because they have no clue what is actually going on and it is their attempt at making it look like they are trying to help.

Hey everyone!

Thank you all for sending us Blizzard logs as well as the new reports. Our development team is currently working on a fix for this issue, as the underlying problem is affecting specific games hosted on the Battle.net Desktop App. While we don’t have an exact ETA on when the fix will implemented, we will be providing any new updates in this thread as they become available.

Same problem here. It has scanned 7 times today with no resolve and no login. Nothing has changed on my computer since last night. Please fix this!

So the last option is uninstall, delete all WOW files.
I really want this as last resort since I have to set up macros, addons, etc.
Do you recommend us waiting until you possibly have a fix?

Zagan, that’s a great question! Some reports indicate that the repeated scanning does not actually affect the game files, and so you might be able to launch the game by using the application/executable file in your \World of Warcraft\_retail_ folder. This, of course, would only be a workaround until the underlying issue isolated to the Battle.net Desktop App is resolved.

So if we uninstalled the game already due to blizzard recommendations how do we open it then?

The launcher wont even let me re-install the game.

Any suggestions Skelgarer?

That’s weird, because the only game (bugging out on the Bnet launcher for me) is WoW. I was able to load up D3 without any problems, even though I haven’t played it in years.

For more information on my problem when I try to launch in folder it still takes me Desktop launcher and starts “scanning game files”. If I stop it then all I have is the UPDATE on my launcher.
When I try my WowClassic.exe launch from folder it tells me "Your World of Warcraft is damaged. To learn how to repair it https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/7655
This does not work either.

Something I am afraid to do now. I was so close to reinstalling but then read some of these current posts. It seemed like this was a solution for an old problem similar but not to current launch problem we are all having.

Don’t uninstall.
it’s a client error, I uninstilled and can’t even download same error message.

Because standard tech support is to point the finger at the user and his hardware FIRST. It’s sorta like a murder mystery where the close family members are top suspects.
