Every time I start the game the launcher wants to scan the game files. What gives?
I’m not too sure if this is the same thing you’re experiencing, but it might help anyway:
Hello I tried the .idx fix didn’t work. Tried installing a new media player, didn’t work. Would uninstalling/reinstalling the game do anything? Remove all Blizzard and WoW registry entries before reinstalling work?
Thx for any help.
Hopefully someone here in Tech Support can lend you a better hand. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with this particular issue, but your thread got moved from CS to here and there are some great people here who may be of more assistance!
I am having a similar issue. When i try to launch wow classic it starts a scan on the retail client. If i cancel it claims my installation is damaged but after the scan is done it finds nothing and works normally. I have to wait for the scan to finish everytime i try to log in. it also adds a wow retail shortcut to my desktop each time.
Same issue here, just started like an hour ago. Every time I open WoW it says it has to scan, and then when I log into the game, all of my keybinds are gone.
same here aswell
Same here, happening since Launcher Update, its done it 3 times now today.
That’s 100% correct!
never seen this before till tonight, blizz needs to fix this
Had this happen earlier. Tried some of the recommended steps and none worked. I reinstalled and everything is good again.
Same problem, plus the launcher tries to update the PTR (without success) I have tried the .IDX and even uninstalling the game and getting a new launcher
Fixed it, don’t know why add/remove programs didn’t fix it but all i did was uninstall game from launcher then redownload it from launcher
This is now happening to me ever since the battle.net launcher updated earlier today. Uninstalling and reinstalling did not work, neither did deleting battle.net folders
Just came here to say I am also having this issue
I am also Expierencing this problem only I have 2 computers running wow and they both do it. So what is happening??
Also having this problem. It only happens when the desktop shortcut for WoW or WoW Public Test are used and in either case it starts scanning the WoW installation (never the PTR one). Restarting the launcher never triggers the scan and neither does starting the game via the Play button in the launcher - it only happens when I use either desktop shortcut.
One of my computers is completely stuck doing a scan. It says “something broke try again” and restarts the scan. Repair and Uninstall are greyed out on the Options menu. I dont even play retail Wow so why do I have to put up with this??
I cannot even Uninstall Wow it just does something for a second and then goes back to update instead of play and runs the scan again.
Your downloading files onto my computer for a game I have not payed for so my computer will be ready on patch day for a game I ain’t gonna play? What is wrong with this picture? I do not play retail!
