How great would it be in the dungeon journal had GIFs or Images to help explain these mechanics? Words in a dungeon journal are as meaningless as explaining over voice or text.
You ignoring them doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
No disrespect to you.
From your earlier post could you explain how this system would be exploited/abused?
the only changes i want to see to m+ is for blizzard to add lockouts and cap gear ilvl to that of normal raid gear and and or have m+ gear cap out to normal raid gear but will scale higher in m+ dungeons only.
so sick of running m+ with my guildies and getting overgeared. i can barely build up the energy or excitement for raiding anymore. there is like no point. i am already maxed ilvl bis geared in a week or 2 of new patch release. it is ludacris that m+ can even award such high ilvl loot for little to no effort. i want a reason to raid again. and no getting a new boss kill is not rewarding. the gear they drop is and always has been and since m+ gearing there is no reason to raid.
This sounds like an absolute nightmare to code, and for a more specific example – mage has a spell called shifting power which, when used, reduces all CDs. This would result in most groups requiring mage as they could reset all CDs, including time warp, for every pull.
But Shifting Power also has a cooldown so wouldn’t it be frozen too?
Scenario
Pull 1. CDs then Shifting Power
Pull 2. CDs
Pull 3. Shifting Power (Maybe CDs?)
Pull 4. CDs
Pull 5. Shifting Power then CDs
Let me know if I missed something!
No, you’re right. My other, bigger issue, is that slowing down the pace feels kinda antithetical to the design of M+. M+ is meant to be regarded as a single encounter, rather than a series of encounters. And, I mean, what happens when Timmy leaves the dungeon? Are his CDs still locked in the overworld? Can he dip out to swap to ST talents for bosses with no timer loss?
This is typically already adjusted for in timer.
I wouldnt mind.
Dont start a pizza right before a dungeon?
Penalty of messing up.
Penalty for messing up.
This time already is allotted before the run starts.
But now this kills the natural time out of combat between pulls. Taking a moment for drink, etc.
Makes everything absolutely easier, removes most penalties.
Now that IS a good idea. I am unsure if there are technical limitations that make that incredibly difficult or impossible, but that is a brilliant idea.
The dungeon journal does need to have a section dedicated to trash, because there just isn’t one. It’s silly that you have to go outside the game and find a third party resource to learn some things.
Run a +2 dungeon.
If there is 10+ minutes remaining after completing, then you don’t need a pause to explain fights, as there was ample time already.
Group isn’t doing well. Person logs off and freezes the timer. Depending on level you can still 4 man keys which would cause the group to then not even finish the key.
Guy has something come up and everyone is stuck until the guy returns.
The current system is fine.
True, leaving the instance to swap talents is a loophole!
If the intention is Mythic Plus in a single encounter and not multiple smaller ones - I can see why it would be antithetical to the design.
Someone suggested a pause timer that can be activated at any time by the group leader. If it pauses everything including the timer, movement and CDs while out of combat. Would this be a better alternative?
try it, fail, learn. You’re not supposed to know EVERYTHING about the place before you run it.
We only have this discussion because M+ is paced incorrectly. It is supposed to be an esport, but the extreme lengths of runs and the extreme bullet sponge monsters make it a slog to play and a bore to watch.
So much of WoW’s problems is just that everything drags and drags. People explode into a rage or rage quit runs over little things because the run times are too long. They are asking way too much time investment per run.
It’s why no one wants to raid too, they pile on an hour of trash in gigantic set pieces for who could even guess why. What are they getting out of that dev time? Another 250k lost subs every tier? Shorten this crap up! Pacing, people, pacing!
the raid takes like 1 hour to clear on normal. It’s not an hour of trash lol. If trash takes you an hour, play with better people.
I didn’t say this specific raid, it’s a generalization. The raiding collapse we went through for the last years was caused by the pacing issues. People were having manic all caps freakouts in SOTFO chat about the trash, like calling down cosmic curses from the sky at Blizzard because they couldn’t psychologically handle looking at the 8th 30 foot tall robot trash mob 20 minutes into the trash pull. They missed the mark too many times in a row. M+ is having the same issues.
I actually kinda enjoy trash in raids. Not to be contrarian, but it’s usually a bit of fun downtime with the guild - we’d do some silly stuff, mess around with abilities, just have a bit of time to play and be casual without having to worry about a boss. And it’s only, like, fifteen minutes of the raid night.
M+ is fun. The pacing is rather good.
You can chill and gossip at your guildies all day and all night. It make me irrationally angry when people are dicking around during the trash pulls. They are a mission to be completed.
Even though this is the best idea so far. It still would need restrictions to keep the group leader from trolling. Having a maximum stop time of 5 min for example.
But I also don’t think it’s truly necessary to have a pause in dungeons. Would be pretty niche.
