This is like the garrison situation with blizz calling that patch 6.1. In an interview with ion and lore during like late legion and bfa (they stopped doing these around march 2019), that patch in WoD would have just been a minor patch.
However people have come to have an expectation of expansions needing a X.3 to be deemed a decent amount of content for their money spent.
Blizz very likely could have pawned off 10.1.5 and 10.1.7 as 10.2 and guardians of the dream as 10.3 and people wouldn’t be freaking out right now.
Remember the versioning of software prior to like 2010-2012. We had web browsers numbered like v4.5.30.1580 and then a few years later you see firefox and chrome making it look like they have major changes in their software with major versions of up to like 70+.
Permanent augment rune, AoTC mount drop, devs refusing to say if there would be another major patch in interviews… it’s been quite obvious that this is the last major patch, undoubtedly there will be minor patches or a fated type season until the next expansion.
I’m wondering if they’re planning to release 11.0 in August so they can readjust their release schedule and they’re cutting this expansion a bit short to achieve that? Maybe it was planned that way since before launch.
I’m also wondering since they said they want stories to translate between expansions now, if they’re planning to release expansions more frequently but with smaller scopes in the long term?

Yet people continue to triple-down and claim there will be another raid tier

I think there would be riots if Blizzard was just like, “Surprise! There’s no more content! The expansion’s over.”

I have been enjoying DF, and I feel it is one of their better expansions. I guess we’ll be getting less content for more money going forward. I understand cutting short WOD and SL, as those were some of the worst expansions. I just feel like they are giving DF the same treatment if there is no 10.3 and it’s disappointing.

Wasn’t there a npc at the start to remove the fated effect?
No. Never.
There was a mysterious obelisk. And people ASSUMED that it was to remove Fated.
It wasn’t.
It was to DOUBLE Fated.

WoD only had 2 raid tiers (the only expansion that did). This one will have three, which is standard.
The DRAGON ISLES are FREE!!!
Who knows, maybe a Ruby Sanctum type raid might be introduced to spice up the Fated season.
That might help, as long as they don’t release an LFR or Normal version.
Otherwise it’s 15 minutes of content.
Maybe 20 if there’s a lot of trash.
my fury Warrior is 10500 strength as of 10.1.7 will be way more in 10.2
86 more isn’t going to make any difference
I’ve not use a rune this entire xpac because they cost 2-3k each on AH
I’m not wasting 100k LOL
Seriously! I have never understood why people waste their gold on those things. But hey, I’ll take your money.
Good. Let this expansion die as one of the worst that the game has ever had. Terrible raids, terrible dungeons, terrible balance, profession overhaul was pointless as they still haven’t made it so you can see the crafters stats to see if you’re getting scammed or not, and they even failed the casual player base with zero world content or any reason to do pretty much anything in the game. All of that for dragonriding. lol

It’s all about those initial sales.
DF didn’t sell so good, time to shut it down.
Maybe next time you’ll buy more copies if you wanted a longer expansion.

With all of the 12 month sub sales, this might not even be a problem from a revenue perspective. At least until the community wises up and stops buying them.
There’s so much lag time between implementing questionable ideas, assessing questionable ideas, changing direction to different ideas, my guess is will get 10-12 months of low effort public events and content patches with a day of content every couple of months.
