1000g/week on naxx consumes

Jaysus.

Go take a walk.

Yea. And flasks being down to 100 or so changes the equation a lot

I could be doing both, do you even have phones? And what’s more enjoyable than a walk through the field of ethics and philosophy

That’s not the way to measure equality of contribution. Have you heard of a progressive income tax rate? A person’s contribution should ethically be measured according to how much they gave as a percentage of what they were able to give, not in raw totals.

As Marx said, “to each according to his needs, from each according to his ability.” Or if you prefer, as the New Testament teaches: “many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, ‘Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.’”

Not being a pedant.

As Lenin said “She who does not work, neither shall she eat.” Or Paul the Apostle if you prefer

Only if he’s not competitive on the meters.

Given how buffs heavily impact performance if he’s skimping he’s probably not topping meters since you’ve always got at least one or two people who always do it all, but he should be able to stay competitive.

I find discussions on the ethical merits of an action are, rather than pedantic, a necessary part of being a productive member of our human society. In fact, its pretty much the foundation on which our entire society is built.

Is it ethical to judge his contribution ONLY by the consumables he uses?

Or, does doing so make you a pedantic ***********?

Its a good thing no one made that argument then. But rather

Plenty of room for individual experience there

I go fully consumed with top notch consumes and explosives every week even when I flask I’m under 500g for a clear. You have to be moving pretty slow to even have sappers off CD to be spending hundreds on them lol. I think the people spending a lot are not farming anything at all and also popping consumes when they are still in progression which is silly.

The argument would be wrong of course. If you’re doing your role at a level equal to or higher than required to clear the content, you’re not a carry. It’s that simple. Clear or not clear is the only objective measurement inherent to the game. Valuing anything else is strictly opinion, so discarded.

Yes sure, with flasks at 100g these days if you’re speed clearing that’s pretty easy to do. A couple months ago it as a different story

In an hour and a half clear which is significantly faster than the vast majority of guilds, our top dps used 35 dense and 15 sappers. At 4-5g per thats 200g easy.

Regardless of whether its relevant to the OP, that makes zero sense. Someone who is clearing content but not pulling their weight is literally the definition of a carry. If someone in green gear gets run through AQ, that is exactly what being carried is.

That person is not performing at a level equal to or higher than required to clear the content.

When I say that, I mean if you had an entire raid group of people performing similarly, would that raid be successful? The answer is clearly no if you bring fresh 60s in greens to gear them in AQ.

And you could make the same argument for a group that’s just barely clearing content where some are using full consumes and some are not.

If everyone in that raid wasn’t using consumes, seems pretty reasonable to argue that that could easily be the difference between killing a boss or not.

And in that specific circumstance I’d agree, because the raid would fail if everyone was performing at that level.

It’s very simple, and consistent.

10 sappers and 20 dynamite costs ~85-95g on my server. This is just RAW MATS and I craft or sometimes farm on my rogue when I have the time. With flasks down to 150-170g now, Im still smashing 600g+ per week on a warrior (we tend to not wipe and have sub 3 hour clears). But warriors do average 1-2 deaths per run. I also tank 2 bosses so I do take some tanking consumes, armor pots and fortitude. 10 frost pots cost nearly 100-120g on my server as well so 10 pots for 20g is practically free. You live in a great server economy!

Lots of flasks, lots of last-minute purchases of expensive stacks of protection potions, mongoose, etc, and lots and lots and lots of hyperbole.
