I was having the same issue tonight with WOW taking up nearly 80Gb of memory. I am running MacOS Monterey 12.6 and using a 2019 MacBook Pro with 16 Gb of RAM and 2.6Ghz Intel 6 Core i7. Help!!!
Happening to me too today. Windows 10, 32GB of ram, just lol’d when I saw the memory is full.
lol 12GB of actual RAM in use in Oribos doing nothing… Win 7 64 bit SP1
did the latest build that came out tonight (10.0.0.46455) resolve the issue?
Nope, still seeing my RAM usage at 15.6GB while only running WoW. Normally would be well under 9 GB.
im still dealing with a memory leak here with my intel imac. running macos 13, capping foreground fps to 60, vsync on. starts out low but the longer the game is open the memory usage will just go up and up.
Hi. Same here. Running windows 11 with 32gb. With 32gb of physical Ram, i always had the windows swap disabled. It used to work well along for wow, and even beta. After pre-patch, It continue to run until I am out of memory and i notice the ‘Cached Memory’ section show over 20gb.
Only found temporary solution to perform a windows scheduler to execute a file that purge cached memory (search for purge windows cached memory / or emptystandbylist in google) every 5 minutes to purge it. After running the file, the cached file will drop back to 3gb and start growing again.
Not sure it’s memory leaking in wow or windows 11, but it certainly causing lots of problem for the new pre-patch. Also notice FPS drop.
memory leak still a problem here ;(
I’ve gotten it multiple times in the last two days, and all I am doing is PvPing.
I am lucky to get 30 minutes into the game before my fans start kicking on and a warning that tells me that I am running out of memory. This problem is continually getting worse since the Pre-patch release. Please address this issue Blizzard.
I would really love if someone from blizz could acknowledge this issue. I have personally been reporting on it since the very first day of mythic raid testing, it actually bricked one of my PCs, the memory is destroyed, and my hard drive is corrupted.
Just loading into and out of an Ashran game permanently increased my memory usage by 16%, it doesn’t use that much before, or in Ashran, but upon exiting my usage is just higher.
I would like to know ARE YOU AWARE OF THIS INTERNALLY?! I has been plagueing my computers for literally months now, with 0 confirmation that you see this issue happening or that ANYONE at blizzard is working on a solution.
I know I am not the only one experiencing this, how many people does it take for you to acknowledge your game is crashing? Isn’t that a priority one issue in game testing? Does your QA have the ability to figure out the problem?
I still have this issue, Win 7 SP1, driving me insane having to close Wow every 30 minutes because it ate my entire 16GB of RAM and cached 4GB of my SSD and made my whole system slow down. Only happened since prepatch.
I thought about reinstalling the game but not sure that would help. I notice an increase in memory use in retail and classic wrath.
Oh wow good to know I’m not the only one with this issue. Tried a utility that didn’t fix it: ‘memory cleaner’ by Koshy John (some gamers used to use it back in the day).
But the game just slowly eats RAM until you reboot and start again. Might play 30 min. Have to start again. I’ve already been playing in windowed etc.
Using Windows 8 64bit w/ 16GB.
Play it on second monitor
Crashes will happen when total RAM usage is about at 70%.
Oribos eats a lot of RAM.
I have tried a completely clean install of WoW and the memory leak still happens, can literally watch WoW.exe grow to 11GB+ and then the system starts slowing down since combined with Windows I have no RAM left at this point. Happens 100% of the time. Still closing WoW every 30 minutes to start the loop again -_-
Any updates on this?
Got this problem as well, sad that blizzard is completely ignoring this and not giving any sort of comment…
I play for around 30mins-1hr and the game becomes unplayable. Becomes incredibly choppy and fps falls dramatically. Please acknowledge it Blizz!
I am experiencing this on Windows 10 as well. Twice now WoW has swelled my 64 gigs of available memory usage to over 70% until I restart my PC. I was starting to think it was the addon manager, but these reports have now made me consider the game itself.
Im experiencing a lot of system freezes especially when going thru many loading screens like 13 different characters and then doing a dungeon i get random system freeze suddenly but i see no proof of increased system memory at all however.
Wow.exe is in a deadlock and does not even report cpu usage while i do see it elsewhere, so i suspect for some reason real memory usage is hidden from me perhaps windows 11 new task manager bug where does not show real memory usage.
This is really getting frustating the game is horribly broken.
