10.0 on the Horizon. New Class?

Tinker Overview

The Tinker is a three spec tank, ranged and healing class that manages Steam as a resource. As a Tinker, you will build up steam to use for abilities. Talents, and cool downs will allow you to more efficiently disperse Steam. Tinkers also benefit from expanded utility, creating technology that copies other class mechanisms, albeit at times less effectively.

Tinker Races:

Horde:

Orc - Originally holding some disdain for technology, working alongside the Goblins in Azshara and remnants of Garrosh’s Iron Horde have brought technophile Orcs into expanding their races abilities.

Blood Elf - The Blood Elves, eager to prosper, use their arcane skills with studied technology to bring tinkers to their ranks.

Goblin - The war for Azeroth through the Burning Legion and the Black Emprie has brought huge loss to all populations, Goblins included. Explosives are great, but research has been put into the medical field to keep their kind alive…and the Horde too.

Vulpera - Intelligent and being crafty scavengers, Vulpera have been studying goblin works for awhile and seek to impress the other Horde races with their abilities.

Alliance:

Human - Their close bond with Gnomes and Dwarves have paid off, allowing their race to quickly incorporate this technology with steadfast spirit.

Dwarf - While lacking efficiency and style, dwarves have no doubt created with brute output. They have worked with Gnomes to refine their own designs and bolster the strength of Gnome designs.

Gnome - Already highly specialized, the incorporation of Mechagnomes has brought newfound progress to their ranks.

Mechagnome - The encounters are Mechagon have brought new advancements to the other races in Azeroth, including to potential enemies of the Alliance that they wish to serve. They strive to bring continued advancements to the faction.

How is that different from current tanks?

The use a big robot suit, think Gundam.

I mean mechanics-wise.

Says the Vulpera monk. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I will only minorly understand this argument. But due to the fact that it’s impossible to please everyone thus Class balance will never be. Then until Blizzard says no more, I welcome all the new classes they decide to introduce. :slightly_smiling_face:

Goofy is the name of the game. I’d be okay with a class the embraces the Goofy side of WarCraft. Especially after Demon Hunters.

And I like Brussel Sprouts! We need a Chef Class, obviously.

Sounds to me like you care an awful lot.
You get awfully grumpy over me~ too. Is there something you’re not telling me Rhielle? I love your Transmog

Boo… I was having fun! We usually agree on so much.

Lots of options here. Since they’re an Intellect stacking tank, you could have them use Energy shields, Give them a passive that slowly converts overhealing that they recieve into energy shield over time. And Allow them to divert power from movement or weapon systems to deploy large group shields like Reinhardt from Overwatch.

Another Idea: Have their entire focus be around chaining electrical attacks. Give them a Thorns buff that gets more damaging when they block like Paladin used to do wayyy back in Burning Crusade.

Another Idea!
Completely flip the roles of mitigation on their head. Tanks are generally not supposed to be casting spells while tanking. Because you can’t dodge or block. Allow Tinkers to run repairs on the mech. channeling a regeneration on themselves while the mech automatically blocks and absorbs damage.

Yeah, I wish the work they put into Brewmaster had gone into Guardian instead, then I’d still be playing my Druid.

Are you even reading my posts? I specifically said that my concern is class design (and design space), not balance.

Think the would be like Monks and the suit absorbs the damage that get turned into steam, which they use to fuel abilities. Maybe a AOE smash that creates threat, or they blow a steam cloud that makes it more easy to dodge damage.

^

You never specified design over balance. Majority speak of Balance when referring to classes. :man_shrugging:

You very much, did not.

But I do agree, that Guardian needs some love. :pensive:

So it’s old pre-active-mitigation Warrior/Druid tanking mechanics.

They got rid of that for a reason, though.

What about My ideas Brewa?
I’d love to hear your opinion on those.

I’m sure they had reasons for changing Guardian Druid to what they did.
You may not like it. But some people do.

I’m sorry you feel so painfully compelled to play monk instead of Druid. But I assure you druid is still there.

In fact, I did.

Yes, because I read your replies to other people before replying to you.

Knowing pre-existing context existed. Right…

I’m begining to think he either has me muted or refuses to acknowledge me for some reason…

Don’t worry Buz. I forgive you for not reading through 114 posts. And that’s totally not just because you’re on my side.

They’d need more than a new class to pull themselves out of the gutter.

Probably need accouple of new scaly races to go with it.

Think it would work like Stagger and they take the damage, but use half to build up steam and the other half still takes hp off. They do not take full a full hit.

I mean I could understand if I quoted him while in a separate conversation. But assuming I read their previous replies to other people, before replying to their reply of mine is just…

Really confusing.

I made a post about this a few months ago. Still think we need a ranged plate class. Wanted it to also use Haste as main weapon stat.

Mail as it only used by two classes, and range weapons since only hunters use them now.

Particularly Intellect mail is only used by 2 specializations in the entire game.

If Tinker got Added and all 3 specs used Intellect Mail, then we’d have 5 Int Mail users and 4 Agility Mail users. A nice split.

A waste of 3 whole weapon types if you ask me. Only used by 2 specs of 1 class.
