FF14 has bots, what are you on about? They frequently glitch and travel underground and SE can’t tell as easily. Their client has no player-side detection software by design.
And the reason why it’s less an issue is because gil (aka gold) has no real value. Farming nodes are per character, not universal. There are no player-bought powerful items like boe epics - gear is either crafted, earned from dungeons/quests, or from turning in tomestones you accumulate over just playing the game normally.
If WoW moved to that kind of economy, then bots would be less of an issue. But given the whinging over GDKP being banned, imagine the crying when all BoE epics and blues could be crafted or earned?
Listen man.
What you refer to as “Bots” are not bots at all.
There is actual people controlling those characters.
They’re employees of these gold farming outfits from Indonesia and China, they don’t speak English and they are not in the game to have fun like you and me.
They are there to perform a certain list of duties that all result in the acquiring of gold.
I can 100% guarantee you that the “owner” of those accounts (I.E their boss) has a multitude of 40’s on those accounts.
These people go to work everyday and it’ not in their living room or bedroom. Most of them have to travel to go to another location, sit at a computer station and farm gold all day, they are not bots.
Have you ever purchased a summon?
Ever participated in a Boosting session?
Ever bought from the AH?
Ever purchased enchants?
Then you have done business with one of these people.
It’s not a big deal, why are you trying to make it into a big deal?
They are not breaking the rules, they are real people playing on real accounts that pay real money for their monthly subscriptions. If they choose to let their “employees” play on their account gathering gold that they in turn RE-SELL then that’s their business.
This is all possible thanks to the great disparity in the currency exchange rates from the U.S - Chinese YUAN or the U.S - Indonesia RUPIAH
1 US dollar = 7.18 Chinese YUAN
1 US dollar = 15,602 Indonesian RUPIAH
Now go to whatever website is selling gold out there and check the prices.
Looks like a pittance doesn’t it?
Now do the math.
$10.00 USD is worth 156,020 RUPIAH in Indonesia and that’s only ten measly dollars. You can buy a bunch of groceries with that $10.00 or pay your sell phone bill, etc
They are not bots
I think I misunderstood your point, I guess you’re saying that you see more level 40 bots because people are leveling characters to bot with faster rather than leveling to 40 with a bot?
In that case, I’d say a botter doesn’t care how long it takes to get to 40 because they aren’t playing the character much themselves. Anyone that wanted to bot at 40 would eventually get their bot to 40. The XP buff may get them to 40 faster but they were going to get there eventually regardless. The time it takes to get to 40 wasn’t a barrier to a person who’s not even playing the character themselves.
There’s detection, and it takes time to investigate and ban the bots. The point is that they get to 40 much much quicker now and begin to have this negative effect sooner and for longer. They literally increased the revenue of these gold sellers because they’re making more gold before getting caught. I wouldn’t take issue with alts getting this exp boost. But it’s having a sore effect on how many 40 bots I’m seeing all of a sudden.
They don’t actually ban bots when they detect them, they wait and ban them in large waves.
That does still mean they have more time at 40 before being banned with faster leveling, but I believe the buff isn’t just for alts but also new players coming to SoD that may just be starting in phase 2. I don’t think slowing legitimate players down because of bots would make sense.
This guy used to work at Blizzard specifically in the department where they ban people and he talks about why they do ban waves in this video (contains profanity if you care):
And this is why your thread fundamentally misses the point. Blizzard implemented the 100% exp boost because half of SoD’s playerbase quit at the start of Phase 2 when they realized how painful lvling from 25-40 was. In order to stem the bleeding, Blizzard decided to implement the 100% exp boost halfway through Phase 2 to try to get some of those people back online.
You getting to level your alts faster is a positive side effect of this change. But you and your alts aren’t the main reason Blizzard did it. You’re already paying them a sub. They’re trying to get back the people who unsubbed.
That’s great but I care because the concept of “only alts get the bonus” is vague and useless. So if I make a character, shelf it at level 1 then get the exp boost what’s that change? How’s that help? Some say you need to get a character to level 40 before you should get the bonus and that’s garbage too. That’s my point, not the semantics of what’s an alt.
The GMs are so proactive on FFXIV that the community has managed to gaslight themselves into thinking they’re the most friendly community on earth.
You say words, but I think you fail to understand what any of them mean.
GMs, by their nature, are reactive not proactive. They react to complaints and open tickets.
You cannot gaslight yourself. To gaslight is to sow doubt and confusion in the mind of a victim - you cannot sow doubt and confusion into your own mind, because you’d be aware you were doing it. The term you refer to would be ‘hypocrisy’.
The truth is that they just save their trash talk for out of game on discords because they know they’re getting banned within an hour if they act out.
I’ve been in many discords for many kinds of content for FF. Not once have I ever seen anyone talk like that about anyone, even the ones that deserve it. Nor have I seen it on the unofficial subreddits, either.
There are bad apples, always - but the community as a whole is far more positive and accepting than other MMOs, especially WoW.
I wonder how miserable my life must be to wake up every morning and go, “hmm, what should I do today? Oh, I think I’ll log into sod, spend my time finding bots in every which way, report some and then post on the forums about bots!”
Please, learn to punctuate. Your original run on post is hard to decipher and understand.
i have always believed that if you take the food out of the kitchen your children will starve we all know that bots pay with gold not cash to do what they do
Your… phrase is nonsensical, it has no bearing here, that I can understand. And we don’t all ‘know’ what bots pay with. For example, if the account is paying with gold - it’s on retail, not SoD since you cannot pay for wow tokens with SoD gold. And if they’re on retail, then they’re going to stay there farming up the hundreds of thousands of gold a wow token requires.
stop playing the game for a few months that would take food out of Blizzards kitchen
