A fellow slime people fan. I approve. There are not many of us.
Bard has a connotation in the RPG world. The historical context is meaningless.
When I say âDragoon,â you think of a very specific archetype. Historically, theyâre mounted infantry that carried a particular firearm. Very different from what the term came to mean in the RPG world.
We donât need new classes really, but if we do get another new oneâŚno. Like every single new class added to the game has been either 100% melee or like 95% melee. If we get a new class, it should be ranged.
Or Viking metal, with Full Vrykul as a playable race.
Ok then DnD guide on bards mention their ability to create illusions and manipulate minds. Ya know what that means in warcraft terms? Shadow magic which is also very destructive. This also means they could make bards essentially mini Nâzoths using shadow magic to turn their illusions real to their enemiesâ perceptions.
EZ wow depiction of a bard dps spec.
Why call them a Bard, then?
What would you call a user of music magic? Only one term really comes to mind.
For an original class with an incidental choice of focus, you could go with a myriad of terms. Musician. Maetro. Minstrel. Instrumentalist. Dozens of others.
I certainly wouldnât use the term âBardâ if they werenât in a support role, because that term already has a very specific connotation.
It pleases me that I gave a laughing fit to someone amidst all the things in 2020.
We need a good laugh, especially in bad times.
i will never not advocate for Necromancer, and no a necromancer is not a Death Knight (otherwise a Priest would just be a Paladin)
This times Infiniti
Every class added post vanilla melee centric.
Seriously blizz?
I do want to point out that technically ETC is a Warcraft creationâŚ
ETC is the Original Warcraft Bard!
Look up. I referenced ETC a few times. It is notable that they are never referred to as bards.
Every time they release a new edgy class, Warlocks lose an ability.
So lets not do another edgy class.
Of course not cause hes literally a character created a joke for the outro of WC3âŚHes not anything and was later put in HOTS.
But you could call em a Bard if ya wanted to. Does a bard have to use Flutes/Lyres/Drums because of DnD? Nah, Bard can use Guitars too in WoW.
Youâll note that they appear in WoW, too. Pointedly not referred to as Bards.
All that being said, I was also adamant that Pandaren would never make it into WoW since theyâre glorified Easter Eggs. Yet they got an entire expansion.
But your right about a few things, namely we donât have a support role in WoW and traditionally Bards are considered support characters in both table tops and MMOs in the past.
That doesnât mean we can create a bard class that has a few extra buffs, maybe a couple debuffs, but then mostly focuses on the trinity roles. 1 Heal Spec, 1 DPS spec, 1 tank spec. I could see all three working for bard easily.
That all being said, I think Tinker is a much more likely class than Bard, because as you said, Bard doesnât fit WoW lore quite as nicely as say a Tinker would
Didnât a dev come out and say at one point that tinkers werenât considered because engineering is in the game. It was a long time ago but will they cut engineering to make it a class? I donât see that happening.
Summing up my thoughts on Tinker, there.
What if they added a witch class as a death/nature magic hybrid?
Although the ship has probably sailed as far as a new death based class goes.
