10.0 Class and Races

Ok i literally cannot argue with you on that one.

This was almost a meme character as i’ve always played horde, my whole life, but my buddies are playing alliance for SL.

I never intended for it to be this way

WoW hasn’t had a support role since classic. I highly doubt they’d bring it back for a class that doesn’t mesh with the world as it is.

Pitty. It has so much potential. One can dream however.

They’d have to go full ETC with it for it to jive with the WarCraft universe. Which would be awesome. But would also be another shark-jumping moment.

Wow will never have a bard class and probably never a tinker class. those classes just dont really fit wows playstyle.
Seriously who plays wow and wants to be a class that plays a flute??? And also in what world does a tinker make sense? seriously how would the class play? just settin up mini turrets that shot bullets for 5sec then disappears?? Both of these classes make absolutely 0 sense gameplay wise.

The most likely is necromancer or blademaster

i voter bard it would be a mail armor healer, ranged dps

You already have npcs that are similar to what I would expect from tinker class. Gnomes & Goblins riding in their machines of war. Like the mechanostriders and lumber extractors kind of machines but with actual fighting abilities rather than just a mount. I can even picture the tank class where instead of dying you eject from vehicle then it takes time to create a new vehicle to tank from.

That sounds absurd and not at all a part of wow combat LOL. I like your guys ambition but still just doesnt make sense for gameplay

It is very hard to make a bard class that doesn’t end up as an odd sorcerer. Bard’s abilities tend more to the social side, which is awesome on table top rpgs, but they don’t translate well to the boring npcs of MMOs.

please, NO MORE ELVES

Here’s my problem with Bard. Every situation in which a bard has been around in something, its job is to debuff, and buff people. In order for a bard to work, they would have to somehow give bards all the buffs people already have (which would result in another DH situation with a new class indirectly pruning other classes so the bard could have a job with some abilities), and then group dynamics would become designed around having a bard be present, which means a bard would become 100% mandatory in every group just like you need a healer and a tank for most group content.

I don’t think bringing in a bard is a good thing because it might fundamentally change the way grouping and mechanics are designed. Although maybe I’m just overthinking. I’ve had this talk with a couple of my buddies before.

I would say those are the least likely as they are two that have been directly refuted - Necromancers are Unholy Death Knights, Blademasters are Arms Warriors. I disagree with both assessments, but that’s the word we’ve been given.

But yeah, I never see Tinkers showing up. They’ll never be thematic to an expansion. A Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion would be the only proper way to debut the class, and that would excite a very limited amount of people. Given how much control the administrative side of Blizzard has these days… that’s not going to happen.

Literally any fantasy can fit WoW’s playstyle. WoW is basic AF. Bard class focuses on buffs and debuffs, ya know what other classes are built around them as well? All of them. Most of what WoW combat is are buffs and debuffs. You are a warlock FFS, debuff central. You’re going to say these things don’t fit into WoW, how Absurd.

Psion. Need some mental magic

It’s spot on. Shamans used to be offensive support, whereas Paladins were defensive. Once classic ended, they had to make a choice: do we keep the support role in WoW, or not? They chose not to. It’s nigh impossible to reinsert it, even though I would personally like nothing more.

And before anyone says it, a healing class is not a support class.

Make bard a rogue spec that heals/buffs like priests but with song instead of prayer.

Those are DoTs. Not debuffs.

No few classes actively debuff enemies or buff allies in combat in any significant way.

Tough to say, just going over the various classes in the Warcraft RPG wiki a lot of options are some form of specialization.

My best guess would be something deeply entrenched in the void; Shadow Priests sorta fit that role but are only one spec and Warlock’s are way more Fel focused.

So some sort of Void-based ranged class built upon the new Ethereal Race; considering the path we are taking as adventurers I think taking the fight to the Void Lord’s is perhaps the next “big” thing after Shadowland’s.

Buffs: Arcane Power, Combustion, Icy Veins, Serenity, Voidform, Etc. are all buffs.

And dots are a type of debuff alongside things like festering wounds and colossus smash are debuffs.

Bard naysayers either completely lack any sort of vision and imagination or are being purposefully ignorant in order to push a class they would rather play.

I don’t mean this as any personal attack but ANY class idea is viable in both WoW’s lore and gameplay systems, it just takes maybe 10 minutes to find a way for it to work.

When people talk about a bard class, the first image that comes to me for combat is Quick Draw McGraw as "El Kab0ng (Wow… b o n g… is a filtered word, who knew a 1959 cartoon promoted drug use.). If a combat guitar is involved for melee, I’m in.
