10 year anniversary DVD is a hot mess

chris metzen is complicit. he needs to be tried.

Of course it is…

It is 20 years old. If you think it is tough for women in tech (including video games) today, imagine what it was like 20 years ago.

Why would Metzen, in particular, be complicit? He was never in charge of Blizzard.

(mind you, I don’t think he is necessarily not complicit, I just think you may have confused Metzen and Morhaime)

metzen is the definition of frat boy

Dude, show that letter to any woman and ask her if it’s creepy or creepy as hell.

This is something women have to learn, detecting creep vibes from emotionally manipulative men.

There is not an adverb in the english language strong enough to define how creepy it is.

There’s a big difference between being creepy and crossing a professional line. But he did. Someone just showed me where it was a senior position.

They literally can’t let a day pass without embarrassing themselves.

To be fair (and I’m not defending it), that video IS 20 years old. It’s pretty par for the course in the 90’s, in particular for the video game industry. You think there aren’t a lot of women in gaming now? It does speak to the overall “boys club” kind of culture back then.

That letter is cringy AF, though.

I am becoming afraid to sleep. Seems like every night or when I nap when I wake up it’s gotten worse.

This was mostly posted for those defending the “old guard” of Blizzard like Morhaime and Metzen while trying to vilify Activision. While they may or may not be not be directly involved, they were in leadership while this was happening.

It really paints it differently when leads and exec’s go “gee, golly gosh I had NO idea what was going on, if only I had known, I would have done something! #gloriasteinemetoo”

This was always the culture at Blizzard, and it wasn’t the Activision acquisition that suddenly corrupted the good and pure developers.

Unless they wrote the letter they may have no idea it existed.

The video and stills in my OP are from published official Blizzard material.

Didn’t Gazillion burn marvel heroes to the ground because of sexual harassment too?

Is the problem maybe the tech industry being incel as a whole?

There were many issues within the company. The existence of one or two letters doesn’t change that.

Your little SJW operation failed spectacularly. Digging up “dirt” is’t gonna salvage that. Enjoy what comes next! :sunglasses:

Thank you Mr. “Blizzard is above the law and should be free to abuse and discriminate against women and people of color in all ways possible as much as and whenever they want”.

One thing, though. How do you stand playing a character with black skin?

Let them continue to embarrass themselves.

Blizzard: Finally admits there was wrong-doing.
Players: Nah they didn’t do anything.

These posters look like clowns.

I’m not sure they’re actual players rather than an alt right troll squad that starts accounts all over the internet to drop in on situations they see as politically advantageous to them.

There’s multiple ongoing lawsuits for breach of labour laws and fiduciary duty.

How… is that a failure?

This is just to show that the Blizzard creep vibe goes back to its inception as a company. It’s always been there.
