We do indeed see class design rather differently, but I don’t think you’re in any position of authority to determine for everyone what is or is not “iconic” or “junk” when designing for such a narrow, narrow niche.
It literally hasn’t, though. There are use cases for the other talents with which Devastator competes.
It’s very simple.
Devastate is a base ability.
Devastator is a talent, currently an option competing with two others. In DF, it will continue to compete with 2-4 talents.
There were, and will likely remain, occasional reason to take those competing talents over Devastator.
Again, though, we could instead just offer a damned choice node where Devastate is currently and it’d be a non-issue. Those who want every global filled can take the buffed Devastate. Those who prefer AA-based procs can take Devastator. Neither option would hurt the opposite’s freedom or strength of builds.
