With the current price of graphics cards it’s going to be a squeeze. Close to Impossible if you are wanting a good rig. I would try and find a good price on a AMD 9070 XT. Micro Center will be your best bet for that. Nvidia cards will blow your budget apart
Yeah the days of building anything for around a grand that’s a good system went the way of the dodo bird.

I can get you dell i5-7400 business refurb for $199 and you can send me a check for $800…so perhaps a little more information on your needs because $1k may be too much for your needs, too little, or just right
what games do you play and plan to play and at what resolution and refresh rate? Any monitor upgrades in the near future?
how long to tend to keep the PC platforms? Do you upgrade parts? If so, how often? Will you upgrade the GPU to a more power demanding one?
what settings do you prefer to play at? Is medium OK or does everything need to be Ultra?
do you have certain brands you prefer?
Any parts you can re-use like the case, PSU or CPU HSF?
if no on the HSF, air or liquid cooling?
if yes on the PSU, how old is it and the exact model (because maybe it’s time to move on)
but like I said before, $199 for that refurb which will let you post on these forums to your hearts content, answer some emails, watch youtube. Swifty and I can then use the extra $800 on some new parts for our PCs.
$1156.80 USD + Tax. ( Price will change either higher or lower with sales, etc.,… this was what it was at the time I posted this. ). Was the best I could do, without sacrificing potential hardware issues… ( 8gb vram, etc )
This includes:
- A 16gb vram video card ( XFX swift oc rx 9060 xt 16gb ),
- A high ish speed 1tb m.2 ( 1 tb Samsung 990 evo plus ) ( somewhat limited in speed by the motherboard pci gen, but should still work. ), Make sure to install the samsung m.2 software in order to update the firmware of the drive. ( This was on sale for $74 or so )
- A ryzen 7 5700x3d cpu ( although availability looked iffy. ),
- A b550 motherboard ( MSI MAG b550 Tomahawk ( this would require a bios update ) ,
- A 750 watt gold psu ( Coolermaster mwe Gold 750 v3 Gold 750 w 80+ ) ( This should be more than required, but gives leeway for both upgrades + components ),
- A mid tier cpu air cooler ( Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ) ( should get the job done ),
- Thermal paste ( Arctic MX-6 4g ) ( average decent stuff ).
- Ram: 32gb of RAM. 2x16gb. ( Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB ) (3200mhz - cl16 ) ( You can probably get away with 16gb, but I choose to go with 32gb ) $67.98.
( Install ram sticks in slot 2 and 4 on the motherboard, but make sure to double check this with your motherboard manual. ) - Case: Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower. Cheap. but works. Replace in the future if needed.

You should be able to find each part on either Amazon or bestbuy… Hopefully this helps eh. : ) - One additional Note: I would look into a cheap set of additional case fans ( optional ) - I saw a cheaper pack of phantek 140mm case fans that come in a 3 pack. Adding more fans may add to the noise coming from your computer, but it will help in terms of air intake + out. *Keeping your parts cooled is pretty important if you want your parts to last. ( also prevent thermal throttling. ( Wow probably won’t… but eh… leaving this point here. )
Fan placement: Air intake: Front or bottom( bottom only if filtered ), output: 1x back, and top. - One more note: I opted for a 16gb model video card, the AMD 9060 xt 16gb model was the cheapest / best performing card in this price point with 16gb of vram, it was also available in stock last I checked.

If you’re going to buy new, I would not go with AM4. It would make much more sense to go with AM5 even if it’s a 7600 or 9600. These aren’t significantly far behind with the increase speeds of AM5
OP can always upgrade to an x3d chip later which is a fair bit better than the am4 x3d equiv.
I agree, The alternative am5 chipset I originally had in a build was a am5 b850, and a 9600x ( which at the time was cheaper than the 7600. The downside was that it added ~$100 - 150 to the total cost. ( mainly from the mobo )

I get it, it’s always fun to build with other people’s money but the OP hasn’t posted back in several days and like swifty stated it’s hard to take someone serious when all they post is a budget with no details. Those types of posts were far more numerous ages ago but luckily there is enough information on web sites & youtube (to a various degree) that can help out on building a PC. In my experience the OPs often come back with one the following 1) I need to knock down the budget 2) I’m buying this in 6+ months 3) I’m getting a laptop 4) I’m just getting a pre-built 5) I’m just getting a console. So I don’t put much effort into the posts if little thought as been put into the build other than price. Plus you always get the same exact replies from other people “step one, increase your budget”. Just be glad the days of MIRs are done where you had replies go $200 over budget with MIRs and I would always ask “are you fronting the money until the checks come in?”
MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 750 W 80 is a fine and capable PSU but it also has a lot of cost cutting in platform (CWT has better platforms) and parts (fans, mosfets, switches, caps). It competes against units like the Corsair RMe and XPG Core Reactor II VE. I would probably go with one of those especially if they were cheaper, $110 looks kind of steep for 750GL. Also don’t confuse the 750GL with the 750GLS as that’s made by a different OEM.

Do you realize this is something people are literally paid to do? So there is that. There a companies that do this night and day. I work for one. People who are not tech savvy pays to come up with a rig within their Budget and Build it. With that said…
Many of us here dont mind helping actual REAL people who need help on these forums. Heck 2 weeks ago I made a youtube tutorial video on how to use a program called Process Lasso for someone on these forums. You can see it in my post history. With that said you also have to Understand in many PC hardware Reddit or FB Groups people often pop in and say “which is better? AMD or Intel” they dont care which is better they are just trying to spark a fight. Others will make a post saying “do a build for me for an 800$ budget” . Once again they dont really want a build done. Its a Troll and they just know GOOD GPUs are 40% over MSRP atm and are trying to Troll. For example if you game AAA titles at 4k? The GPU alone is close to $3k

When Blizz upgrades their system, do they not give a poop about the folks who may have to drop out because they can’t keep up with the cost of the graphics?

Wow is actually on the lower end of GPU requirements and really comes down to resolution you want to play at.
Granted I haven’t had a midtier card to play with in sometime. But at a step below (believe it’s 3800x1600) 4k resolution the 2080ti I had was able to max without ray tracing and held 60+ fps most of the time.

100% WoW is more about your CPU and Ram than GPU
So people who buy your typical HP Office Computer at Best Buy can still have a decent experience in WoW. Said office Computers often have a great CPU but bottom of the barrel GPU

Yes and I rarely defend Blizz but their games do tend to scale well in both performance and eye candy on the top and bottom of hardware demands. I can list several MMOs that are almost as old as WoW but offer terrible performance and/or ugly graphics regardless of hardware. Now I’m not saying they do this out of love as it makes financial sense to make your game playable on as many different types of hardware as you can in order to increase subs.
Fantastic that you are gaming and from your hardware I would say you have nothing to worry about even on the highest graphic settings in terms of downstream issues.

they still kind of have a point. not that long ago you could still build a computer for 1k and have it be pretty decent. now that wont even get you a decent graphics card.

wow is mostly cpu based so the gpu though still needed isnt as important.
Free performance if you enable EXPO for your RAM in your BIOS. Looks like it might not be on meaning your RAM would be running at significantly lower speed than it was likely rated for.
And this really is your next upgrade. Your computer is very strong. Could handle WoW at 1440p easily. A widescreen 1440p monitor at something like 120hz+ would be an amazing upgrade.

Published system requirements are always kind of arbitrary imo
FX series is not really sufficient for doing much of anything outside of browser use or very old games.
WoW is no longer an old game and while it’s technically playable on an FX-6300, it’ll struggle significantly.
I’d absolutely upgrade from that nearly 13 year old platform.
Edit: did I just reply to a bot? I don’t see anyone else referencing old FX chips.
