People have given you multiple answers to this and you keep repeating yourself.
Some people will level alts.
Some people will make twinks.
Some people will play the AH.
Some people will focus on WPVP.
Not everyone needs AV to continue enjoying the game after finishing raids in about a year and a half from now.
Right. And that worked out so well in the past. Kappa.
PvP is the only thing that kept WoWâs population intact during the massive droughts of PvE content.
And when the PvP got stale? The gameâs population plummeted until the next PvE content patch.
Seriously, have any of you guys been to the end of an expansion? Itâs like this every time.
Blizzard actively went out and added more things to do in Retail, just to give players something to do while they made more PvE content, because the player count would drop massively.
It seems like the center of your argument is âIf I donât get fresh content I get bored. But Iâm ok running the same BG over and over to stay entertained as long as itâs 1.5 and not 1.12.â
âPeople will get bored in a year and a half once they finish Naxx, but worry not, AV will be there to make the game enjoyable for eternity just as long as it is 1.5 and not 1.12.â
Yes. Because PvP has been the only content to withstand the tests of time. People still play Warsong Gulch. People still duel in Elwynn.
But when dueling got awful in Legion because of Legendaries? People stopped dueling in Elwynn, and that entire branch of PvP died. Just like how Alterac Valley died when they turned it into a zerg rush fest. Only recently has AV become something people play again, and thatâs because they buffed the NPCs so much, and actively went out of their way and dedicated time to making the BG better than what it has been for over a decade.
No matter how great a community is, and the dueling community was one of the best, if the gameplay isnât enjoyable, people simply wonât play it.
I did once. Iâm not sure why it happened, but we zoned in, and the game informed us that there werenât enough Horde in the instance, and gave us a timer until the Battleground ended. No Horde zoned in, we hadnât gotten too far into fighting the NPCs, and we automatically won.
Because, again, PvP is the only content in the game that has withstood the tests of time. I donât see people running Naxx any more. I donât see people running Moguâshan Vaults any more. I donât see people running Firelands any more. I do however, still see people queuing for Warsong Gulch for the 14th year now.
I just donât see the glory in AV like you do I guess. If I had finished all the PVE content and got tired of doing WSG and AB, I donât think the sole reason Iâd stick around would be Alterac Valley. Sure itâs fun, but I just canât see it as a glue that holds classic together in two years time.
Roleplay doesnât rely on content, and lasts far longer. But thatâs because itâs actual player-generated content, not reliant on the game. However, thereâs no such thing as âcompetitive roleplayâ - thereâs PVP that affects roleplay, but thatâs more PVP.
The big difference is, is that Alterac Valley is really the only thing Classic can offer that Retail canât give. You can still do WSG in Retail, itâs a little different, now that it has a timer, but for the most part it hasnât changed much. Arathi Basin is in the same boat.
Once you do all the content that exists in Classic, thatâs it. There wonât be a new patch to add more stuff to it. So you have to be able to deeply enjoy what it is you are doing. And yeah, Iâll definitely enjoy WSG and AB. But what would honestly be the point of playing those in Classic, when I can play those in Retail, along with playing Temple of Kotmogu, or Isle of Conquest, or Silvershard Mines, or just Arenas?
At least with Classic AV, thatâs not 1.12, I can have a completely unique experience in Classic, that I canât have in Retail. Thatâs the huge difference.
