There is a quest in Vanilla where an Alliance civilian tried to war the Horde the Forsaken are not to be trusted, only for them to be poisoned.
“I pity you, Forsaken” is the dying words of a draenei about to be experimented on by the Forsaken while a blood elf just watches. Yeah, the Horde may have had elements of good, but its awful elements overwhelmed it.
Well, to be honest the alliance was also hunting the forsaken throughout Classic.
Not only that, there was also the quest from the alliance to KILL Nathanos, knowing he was a member of the Forsaken:
No Horde leader ever tasked a Horde member to kill an alliance member like that before. Just saying.
Former Alliance raised into undeath and now the champion of Sylvanas. Ordering his end (which sadly didn’t canonically stick…) was logical in both a military and moral sense.
The Horde was fine under Thrall. The mistakes it made were a) extending its “if everyone else has cast you out, we won’t” policy to the forsaken, and b) Garrosh. Without those toxic elements they could have stuck to their underdog status.
I think some of the issue was Night Elves and Forsaken should have been their own factions, maybe not on the best of terms with Horde/Alliance respectively, but not really connevccted to either.
The funniest part of this is that every Alliance except dwarves have been forced out of their homes as refugees at some point in recent memory. Most of them forced out by the Horde too.
The Alliance is the faction of refugees trying to survive in a world that hates them.
But there was a TRUCE firmed between both Horde and Alliance prior to World of Warcraft.
When a faction leader decides to target a member of that faction and kill them, it is a declaration of war.
The skirmishes in Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin were region specifics.
They were all competing for Resources, with exception of Alterac Valley.
I’d be FINE if the alliance did that and it then CAUSED a war between the alliance and the Horde.
Just like for Garrosh, destroying Theramore was justified.
You’re talking about stuff that happened thousands of years ago with no one still being alive to remember it.
I’m talking about Stormwind being conquered and destroyed by the Horde and the humans being forced to flee as refugees that happened like 40 years ago.
As Warchief, it is my duty to do what is best for the Horde. To ensure that the generations that come after us are not forced into a hopeless existence.
The opportunity to shape our future alliances has fallen into our collective laps. A move to help the dwarves could greatly strengthen our relationships in the Eastern Kingdoms. This, then, is why you must not fail!
