This is always what it boils down to, and why debating with people complaining about “pandering” is utterly hopeless. Honestly, that’s why I don’t even bother to try. It doesn’t matter what the theme is. It’s “political” because…reasons. Or something. I’ve yet to figure that one out. Probably best that I don’t.

I’m aware of the whole background of goblins, but saying they are a depiction and caricature of a real life religion, is laughable.
WoW’s goblins are a different beast, not like the political posters of old.

I dont find them problematic Ive just been playing WoW long enough to know what kind of communities hide under Azeroth and the Goblin irl racism stuff has been going on for decades.
They could stay the same for all I care. My original comment was to the person with the anti woke perspective “modern audience” comment cus IK what they were going for. People just been @ing me ever since cus you cant defend yourself as a people if youre Jewish without being told youre a bad person.
Some of my best and closest friends growing up are Jewish.
Anyways people need to stop thinking greedy, or rich, automatically correlates to that.
Before Goblins even existed, people were making fun of Dwarves and their ‘find treasure’ racial in the same vein lol.
People are just gonna be nasty no matter what, can’t let it get to you and ruin the fun of fantasy games.
WoW doesn’t even have the same religions as IRL, so I always discarded those kinds of thoughts. There’s no IRL religions in Azeroth, period lol.

Well, I have seen some complaints about how some things get portrayed, but the people usually just want things to be portrayed properly, that’s all.
I can see where OP is coming from if they recognize something used throughout history to portray people a certain way…

This is a based take. Blizzard has done a good job pushing the NY mobster mentality on Goblins already from the earlier days when people often looked at them like memes on irl jewish stereotypes. Escpecially with the Goblin hearthstone set a year or two ago.

Well they are going to need an HR lady in the new fair and equal Goblin society.
I never would have come to that conclusion on my own (and I still dont).
WoW has obvious culture refrances (Tauren, Pandaren, etc) but when it comes to religion the games been pretty original.

There’s no way you’re actually dumb enough to think that the creative team at Blizzard, like the art and story department who decides what the Goblins will be like are “raking in billions”.

Pedantic. This has been a thing forever. Calling somebody racist for being Jewish and having stereotypes thrown at them over 20 years over Goblins is peak ridiculousness.
But once again this is a common theme. If you defend yourself youre the bad guy if youre Jewish. Youre like the 5th person to confirm this.
