Exactly! This is the game I’m looking for. This opens the option to explore the world from the original perception. I mean, it’s not as though WOW kept the Warcraft III lore in tact, or respected it in any way?
Well there’s bound to be some retcons as the stories grow and expand, so old stuff has to bend a bit. I don’t get where people get this “WoW ruined Warcraft 3’s story”, umm… Where and how exactly?
Think of it, in this way. If you’re watching a serie. And in the first season they cater for an audiance that wants to see -say- a fantasy epic following the main characters. And in the second season, because of organizational choices the cater towards a different audiance. That wants to influence the fantasy world from a more individual and personal perpective. What would happen to the first audiance?
Yes, but how does the second season ruin the first season?
If they remake the first season to fit retcons made in the second, the first is ruined.
I did not try to say that it was ruined. Only that there are different groups the developers produce for. And that the different groups have different, and somethimes conflicting expectations. Thus, I would very much like Warcraft III to meet the needs of the Warcraft III fanbase, and make it pleasent for the WOW players, as a second thought. But an important second thougt!
Yup exactly this: Retcons of WoW can be included as ‘reforged’ campaign and ‘extra skins’ while also keeping old lore updated with HD graphics
Not necessarily. Have you even looked up all the retcons? Because there really aren’t even that much of them. And those that are there, are really a minor changes and quite frankly just make more sense with all the added and new information we have received in the last almost 20 years (and not only from WoW).
They are not minor, Suramar ,Black Temple and Draenei are nice examples for it
Changing a little of colors of the ground and make one model a bit more different than original are minor changes…
Are you sure about it? Just search for ‘Lost Ones’ to see how Draenei were looking like and then search Broken to see how currently they are, they don’t look like each other at all, another one big change is Tomb Of Sargeras if they remake it like WoW it will be nothing like WC3 one just nothing like a Sunken Temple so it is a big retcon and just not right for WC3, I’m saying this as a modeler\wow model ripper that LOVES WoW models.
Edit: Also so you want Fel Green eyed Kil’jaeden with wings, Fel Green eyed demons with fel green structures around Outland…
Edit 2: I’lld love to see Burning Crusade Fel Orcs in Outland missions while keeping ‘Chaos’ Orcs for Grom’s missions and including Fel Orc’s of BC as skins that can be used in editor
Nothing post WC3 makes sense lol
Lost Ones’ and Brokens’ difference surely is there, but exactly because of that I think the change should be made. To me it would be just un-immersive to see a character suddenly look totally different (I never liked the frog mutant models they have in WC3). Also the tileset changes can be small or big, true. It really depends on how much of an overhaul the maps are going to get, but I will welcome a more bigger change. I’ve played the campaigns a thousand times over, I would love to have something new in them.
Anyway, in the end I guess it comes down to opinions. But I’ll suggest you should learn to accept that they are gonna change the maps, as they have said it pretty clearly already. All the maps are most likely going to be remade from ground up with the new graphics anyway, one model change here and there is not going to stick out in the big picture.
It wasn’t WC3 that made the change y’know… It ruins immersion to change the look of WC3 characters to fit WoW that came with a lot of changes (unimmersive as you said…)
MADKAT You are absolutely right, also one model change will mean alot to me if they don’t be loyal to ‘Wc3 concepts’ (not talking about including ‘new’ lore as an option it is ofc more than welcome and yes I’ll love playing with them too) it will be the reason for me and my team to work on our mod just because to keep the old concepts alive but in HD.
Well, true, but I’m happy with the change. They looked horrible in WC3 anyway, also they brought lot of other lore around them with BC to fit lot of yet other lore, like the eredar and stuff. Should we overlook all that lore just 'cause you want the old models?
I don’t care for WoW when it comes to the Warcraft universe, WoW has to have an appealing story in the context of WoW and not the overall universe because WoW isn’t canon to me or anyone else who actually thought the story was good in WC3 lol (I didn’t even play WC or WC2 so I can’t talk about those games)
If I remembering correctly, Arthas killing Ner’zhul in his mind comes way, way after that as he’s sitting on that Throne for years.
Nothing needs to be changed.
Also, Arthas is so much better than Ner’zhul, it’s good that Arthas kills him and gains control and embraces his power.
We should overlook all that lore just because of it that is the whole reason and here is the basic solution for it:
Make them as skins and let player to choose them
If it is not the case make them with old concept, we already have WoW rips for those changes and they are one click away to be added to the game.
the most important difference would be muradins death.
muradin surviving removes the whole tragic from that scene.
the main characters actions and following consequences should not be changed.
tileset changes, small faction changes, some changed terrain and water is acceptable in my book.
