game will crash after pressing any key, game would remain in a semiblack screen and then sudenly shut down. What can I do to fix it?
I have already tried re installing the game and also updating my computer.
Warcraft III doesn’t have a screen ANYWHERE that says “press any key to start.”

I also reinstalled Windows 11 from scratch (version 25H2) and had the same issue.
The problem is that some Media Feature Pack components (which contain codecs needed to play videos) were missing. So when the game starts and tries to play the intro movie, it shows a black screen and crashes.
(because windows cannot handle that movie - not the actual game)
The solution is simple: find the Media Feature Pack in your Windows settings or on Microsoft’s website and install it.
