You must understand your own biased perspective. Kiezel’s post is a strong argument for pretty much all of the critical replies on this thread backed by logic, numbers, and align with what we’re all seeing – That is, the ridiculous level of Night Elf domination at higher levels (1800+ MMR) levels of play.
This is the bias at play.
Implying Huntresses won’t be good because they can’t raid a base as well when they’re going to:
- Have a dominant damage type that bounces to multiple targets,
- Armor that can be changed to be advantageous to opposing army composition
- Available at Tier 1 to have a standing army ready for the Moon Glaive research
Is ridiculous.
As for Archers, “hey this counterbalances the nerf that applied,” is a pretty key reason for the reaction to the change to be, “well then what was the point of the change if Night Elf is just going to be exempt from it?”
Night Elf does need nerfs, and the Archer change is more impactful than it seems on paper. “Two extra swings from a grunt” downplays their ranged nature.

This is actually not the bug, it only happens in 1.01 because death knight and arthas have the incorrect ability, if you however (as I pointed out in my thread) not swap map options to 1.01 the ability location and turn on/off string are correct.
The only fix necessary is for death knight and arthas to have the correct abiltiy in the older version.

Alright this is kinda cool. So Blizzard are indeed sticking with the piercing damage type nerf, AND with the Panda range/damage rebalance, while going the route of buffing Elf units to compensate, and partially reverting the Panda AoE nerf to a more sensible shape.
Is there any news about creating a new spell for Animate Dead in order not to break custom maps though? Kind of like what was successfully accomplished with the Orb of Slow?
Also, I would keep suggesting buffing back the Blood Mage while removing the ability to suck the mana into allies. This way, the hero could shine in his own right as opposed to being a mana battery.
Werent you one of the people losing their mind in the previous ptr on the percieved notion that NE is getting nerfed due to piercing change (yet to be proven, likely ends up a buff due to bears being main unit of NE armies).
Are you observing correctly? Perhaps try reading the myriad of arguments for why NE is too strong. I guess it doesnt matter to you tho. You wont stop calling for NE buffs until 100% of top players and tournament play consists of NE. No other races allowed.
Again you are misunderstanding and trying to gaslight people. It wont work. We are calling for general nerfs to NE. Read the thread. It has been proven statistically that NE is way too strong atm.

Blizzard, just revert the lumber gather rate on NE back up to 8.
Night Elf is not overpowered because of things like unit health or damage, they are overpowered because of their economy.
Keep the buffs but undo this change from 2.0.2.

You must be kidding. There are 5 elves in the top 8 Bcup yesterday. It is already the strongest race now. Revert the buff and revert the lumber gathering rate to 8. I know you guys play elf, but this is a job and you should not buff a race just because you like it.

Hello to saulapeman, he deserved it
Thx. 320 speed was a clearly wrong idea. gj reverting it <3
Good change, we will see - more tempo and more hunts plays because of it. As I said before sadly hunts don’t have enough “features” on t2/t3 now after the buildings bounce (what as I said was a good change). Will see how it goes, now it will be interesting to see in games due new timings.
Probably some connection to upgrade/speed will make more sense.
But overall don’t think this is important at all.
Sadly I think it is a wrong direction. buffing hp will lead us nowhere (pssss - btw HP of hipporider also should be changed, because current 780 hp is a summ of archer 255+525=780, so should be 800).
Nerfing dmg and buffing hp seems like a complete irrelevant path if we want to save the current tempo (creeping, ttk on t1 etc)
If not and we want more slow meta then probably but it will lead to a healing issues then (your moonwells are the same and hp is increased).
Buffing dmg for less then 10% (like 1 absolute) is possible (for hippo rider as well don’t forget if did) and will make more sense then hp. But it is still seems more like a power creep.
I have only 1 better idea connected to archers - size to small 16, Im sure you know this well don’t you ^^" and this change helped with all aspects from dps (more in a circle etc), survivability, micro celling etc. And it will not make weaker player stronger, but will give stronger player more options to choose.
- Overall
I only don’t think that buffing archers like this is a good idea.
In general - this version looks way more finalized and meaningful in case of balance then before.
GJ.
P.S.
And I have 0 ideas how to calm down people now ^^.

The Elf heroes, few units and buildings need buff and rework.
-
Demon Hunter: base agility increase from 21 to 22 but nerf a little bit immolation
-
Keeper of the Grove: Keeper of the Grove base Intelligence increase from 18 to 19, and Entangling Roots cast range on 700 with lvl 2.
So now about units.
Dryads: Buff Abolish damage. Damage against summoned units increase from 250 to 300 and buff mana regen.
Mountain Giant: produce Mountain Giants without shop. Hardened Skin upgrade costs reduce from 100 gold 175 wood to 50 gold and 100 wood. Food cost reduce from 7 to 6.
Now about the buildings
Tree of life: buff Nature’s Blessing Armor Bonus on +2.
Nature blessing gold and wood cost reduce from 150 gold 200 wood to 100 gold and 170 wood.

Night elf gets a bit of leeway since their the only race with a ranged starting unit instead of a melee unit. This makes them extremely vulnerable to all ins from the other races. Which will probably still become more popular with this patch.
They should probably look at DH base stats since he is both really tanky and has high DPS along with NE’s best hero abilities that allows him to carry NEs into Bear Dryad without fear.
That is completely fine and does not need to be remedied, is the point.
Warcraft 3 is as asymmetrical as it is symmetrical.

I like these how the patch still nerfs piercing dmg, while giving a slight buff to NE’s early game. This seems appropriate because NE currently relies on archers on T1, which will be nerfed because of the change to piercing dmg.

I’ve noticed that default grid option now works with QWERTZ in the unit panel as mentioned in the patch notes, but inventory hotkeys do not. Even though it’s not shown in the hotkey settings or the UI (which it probably should), TZGHBN now also works for inventory if you select the grid layout, but with QWERTZ it still doesn’t work for the second slot (more specifically Inventory Hotkeys 1 in the war3preferences file). You can individually fix it by manually changing the hotkey or editing the war3preferences file, but it would be nice if it was fixed by default. The UI should also reflect it by showing the letters instead of the numpad keys I think.
Use your brain. 1. Archers are the worst t1 unit in the game, even Happy said so. The heavy armor change would make them even worse. 2. Hunts are the worst t1.5 unit in the game next to glaives. They are getting nerfed to uselessness, hence the archer buff. 3. Elf relies on panda the most, and panda will be useless trash with this aoe. 4. Are you seriously arguing for a KotG nerf? Are you 3k bnet mmr? 5. Bears and dryads are the only non-trash elf units.
Now go play your balanced human with the best early, mid and late game.

He is 2200 MMR Orc. I think he know about game and balance more than you.
Blizzard, please, dont do this patch. Nobody want FPS drop and issues again. Game balance is ok now, dont touch this.

If archers hp is buffed to compensate for the early game with the piercing damage nerf, then their Elune’s Grace ability against piercing damage could be reduced from 65% to 70%.
I still think that lumber gathering buff to NE in the previous patch was too much. I’d prefer to see it reverted + targeted lumber buffs to Nature’s Blessing and dryads’ cost instead. OR at least partially reverted from 7 to 7.5 seconds.

you know i just honestly don’t get why they won’t put a tiny amount of effort into improving the replay files
its friggen ridiculous how important replays are for the game yet how horribly supported the whole system is!
we could make replay viewers that work across patches but instead we have blizzard replays which now even when you change the replay version in the file to “make it work” in the client it will all be horribly wrong due to the 90% damage change.
so this patch effectively breaks viewing all replays from the past even more than it already was… awesome!!
just please please please stop being stubborn and assign one freaking person to dump some metadata into the replay so we can do your jobs for you
