My hopes were that Blizzard product will be similar to what team Armies of Azeroth showed.And because of Blizzard they cancelled the project can you imagine this.And now we have this crap.
Well the idea behind it was good, uniting old and new players as well as making sure that all (or alteast most) custom maps would work just as they are on Reforged. Its just the piss poor exectution that is the problem here. Anyhow like Iâve said so many times already to ppl who have yelled âwhy no new game engine or atleast SC2 engine?â, what makes you think Blizzard would have done any better job with new engine when that would have actually required LOT more work from making the campaign from scratch, while at the same time ensuring that the game would play/feel as close as possible to the originalâŚagain they might have just as well remade the whole game if they changed the engine and that in return would have required even more resources than just building on the original engine.
Again I would like to remind everyone that we HAVE seen quality remasters build on top of the original game engine, like Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Halo:CE and Halo 2 Anniversary editions. So as great as ofc remakes like RE2 or the upcoming RE3 are, there is no reason that you couldnt do great remaster using the original game engine as your foundation and build on that. Its just that Blizzard (or should I rather say Activision-Blizzard) treated Reforged like 2nd class citizen and gave it the minimal resources and development time. With proper budget and enough development time this could have turned out just as great as those other remasters mentioned, but if you try to go cheap on it, then ofc you get half-baked product.

Blizzard doesnât even have Developers anymore (but they do have cellphones and Asia for that)
Warcraft 3 had a pop limit too but the upkeep system is designed to penalize late game play, this is an inherent flaw in aoe2, late game can be sustained long term in a 2v2 game as long as you have food and a gold trade route between markets.
The upkeep system is designed to reduce resource income the more units you have (realistic mind you, you do need to upkeep your units, its not free), this again is purely to prevent long drawn out games, of course mitigated by custom melee maps with unkillable trees and gold mines with 999999999 gold.
Developers themselves said that This is not like SC Remastered, it is more than that. This is a completely Reimagined version of Warcraft 3. So you got it completely wrong.
Second, we donât have Wc3 Reforged because of you purists. In fact you guys contribution is negligible (I can argue you even damage the game thanks to your âMe wants everything same just graphzâ logic). We have Reforged thanks to all map makers, model/texture designers, spell system designers, meaning âcontentâ makers who kept the game alive for so long (Iâm also a small contributor.)
