I am not able to play a custom single player game from my downloaded maps. Here is a short runthrough of what I am doing:
From Home Menu options, I choose single player
From single player options, I choose custom games
Under my folder of downloads, I choose the game I want to play
I am then directed into a single-player custom lobby, from which I am not able to start the desired game. I am only able to "invite to game”, beneath my player name.
I have not been able to play in single player mode for several months and hoped that a new patch fixed the bug. Since I only play as a single player, my use of the game is gone.
First, you can play alone, even on battle.net. Your use of the game is not gone. Somply create a custom game and start it just as you would offline. Custom games do not require multiple players to start.
That said: This is most likely caused by a corrupt install or the game’s settings file being marked as read-only and will not be fixed by a patch, as it is an end-user issue, not a game bug. Try these steps
click the start menu, and open File Explorer
In the panel on the left, locate “Documents” under the “Libraries” group
Locate the Warcraft III folder in the list.
Right click on it and click “properties” from the menu
In the properties window, at the bottom where it says “Attributes,” click the box marked “Read-only” if it is either checked or filled-in.
Try playing again. If this doesn’t fix the problem, it may together with a reinstall. Uninstall and re-install the game.
Now, this is just a suggestion, but you’re missing out on a whole world of stuff you’ve likely never even tried once. You should seriously consider finding some coooperative custom game you can play with others and discover how fun it can be. Multiplayer doesn’t have to mean competitive. There are so many amazing custom maps out there that just don’t work with only AIs.
If campaigns and multiplayer working I do not think re-installing will help. But worth a try (if you have big data plan eg. it will download again 30GB).
Just make sure is properly uninstalled, delete all empty Warcraft related folder between uninstal and re-install.
On the other hand for me single custom is not a option. The best and most played is 4v4. So in my point of view you do not:
Your posts puzzle me more with every one. I didn’t say single player customs were the best or most played or (by themselves) missing out on a whole world of stuff. Quite the opposite in fact. I said they were missing out on a whole world of stuff BY RESTRICTING THEMSELVES TO OFFLINE SINGLEPLAYER ONLY.
Even if you hate competitive things (and thus won’t do any melee or 4v4 or custom games where you compete against each other) you STILL get a lot out of playing online. Co-op tower defense anyone? Uther party? There’s tons of stuff that isn’t meant to be serious competition that you can enjoy by being online even if you don’t like competing against others.
They are not seeing the correct menu or the menu is not working correctly which indicates a corrupt install. There is no “invite to game” button on the Single Player Custom Lobby screen, which looks like this:
