YouTube tutorial:

  1. Download ReShade from this site: https://reshade.me

(Last tested with ReShade 4.7.0: https://reshade.me/downloads/ReShade_Setup_4.7.0.exe)

  1. Select the game | path: ?\Warcraft III\ _retail _\x86_64\Warcraft III.exe
  2. Choose “Direct3D 10/11/12”
  3. Select the effect packages “Standard effects”, “SweetFX by CeeJay.dk” & “Legacy standard effects” and click then on “OK”
  4. Click on “OK” till you see the “Legacy standard effects” selection window - check all effects and click then on “OK”
  5. Edit ReShade settings → choose your preset (and tick “Performance Mode” & “Skip Tutorial”)
// Check the links above for the presets

(-> Use “Scroll Lock” to disable/enable the preset: press “Pos1 / Home” to open the ReShade in-game menu, go to “Settings” & set “Scroll Lock” as your “Effect Toggle Key”)

Check this out, if you face any errors:

  • required:
    ’ DirectX End-User Runtimes (Web Installer) → https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=35
  • if ReShade setup crashes:
’ add the path of your ReShade preset txt file manually to the installer
    ’ download latest .NET Framework → https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework
  • if game crashes or ReShade doesn’t load:
’ rename (every) “dxgi” file to “d3d11”

I hope you will enjoy it my friends.

Looks cool. Great job even though I can’t play on SD graphics.

Looks kind of bad. Over sharpened (sharpening is kind of bad). Dark is too pronounced given how much diffuse lighting there is. Colours also appear kind of messed up with skin tones looking too red.

I think the actual solution is to change how bright the day/night lighting is. Diffuse needs to be lowered a lot with most of the brightness coming from the specular lighting. This would produce stronger, more realistic shadows. The current diffuse lighting is as if everything is a glossy highly reflective surface which combined with being very bright results in the saturated look.

Is there a shader that can add SSAO? I know Skyrim’s ENB does that.

It’s very easy to customize a ReShade preset to your liking. I always end up doing that because no one has exactly the same tastes as me but having a base preset that gets kind of close helps.

Not working

Thanks for the feedback! I added a preset that looks more natural and less sharp and also adjusted the sharpeness and HDR effect of the reddish preset.

This actually makes the game look sooo much better! Great job!

you dont need this. you only need set your video driver and monitor to rgb thats all

It looks great except the icons. But I guess it is a price I can pay for better terrain.

Unable to initialize graphics - error and Warcraft 3 doesn’t launch at all after I close this popup-window. So, very disappointed.

I will try to record a video later that shows how to install it.

For me not needed as the error appears after successful installation in phase of launching Warcraft 3.

It can help sometimes to rename the “dxgi.dll” file to “d3d11.dll”. If it doesn’t work, then you might wanna check out the ReShade FAQ page: https://reshade.me/forum/troubleshooting/5227

I dont agree with you much but

if when I drag over the picture the left is the current original lighting and the right (Sweet FX on) is the corrected one, the colors to me are much more pleasant on the right. Sure there may be over-sharpening (no wait - there isnt, there is more exposure on the left) but it is more pleasant to watch.

Perhaps the demo 2018 still beats both

And has anyone seen Terenas stand map (Whatever the tile set)? What’s with the lime green. On the current shading it is horrible and by default it is dark green.

And the trees - so on this image from https://playwarcraft3.com/en-gb/

https://bnetcmsus-a.akamaihd.net/cms/gallery/QS9ZESDRH4D21569264710641.jpg
(also coloring on this pic is also better), so what the game has is not even whats on this demo pic

Trees dont look bad, just the color is too bright (saturated) to me. But on the OP’s thread the trees look like crap. Why when this type of tree should be everywhere for Loraderon Summer tilset.

Saturations and Colors are looking good but the game graphics still bad… They need improve the graphics! They need do an better lighting, shadows and rendering!

^ Yes that too mostly, the left one looks like it is under yellow light sun and the green looks yellowish.
