The lack of new updates and news regarding this game is a concern

The critique that they release 0 information is totally valid though. For instance, the argument that there’s tons to do and that they have so many units/doodads to update only works in favour of piece-meal information, not in the huge cinematic bursts that they’ve been doing. Literally they could have a dev twitter or something that posts some WIP shots of whatever they were working on model-wise that week. People could give feedback in real time, and devs can show that they extend an olive branch by showing when they take fan feedback into account.

An example could be if people really hated the archer skin, and were asking for a different color palate from that weeks screenshots. Next week they post it again with a slightly altered color scheme, incorporating that feedback and thanking fans for their suggestions.

That’s how game companies handle stuff right now, and makes the player base feel engaged with. I keep going back to Paradox dev diaries and Mount and Blade’s weekly dev diaries. They do great jobs with minimal effort interacting with their fan base, and showing that its not just a waste of time going into their forums and keeping up with the game.

Honestly, it’s just the mature company thing to do. There are almost no up-sides to keeping mum on every aspect of the game. It doesn’t build hype, it doesn’t make people more comfortable with the whole thing, and it doesn’t help maintain a community. The only real pro is that it saves one person on the team 30-60 minutes a week typing up a couple paragraphs (which they’d have to do for management anyways if they’re using any sort of AGILE programming style, which is the industry standard).
