I’ve been working on a huge and complex rpg style scenario map on the W3 editor since well before the remastered stuff, and had to entirely recreate it when it did get remastered (which i didn’t mind for the enhanced qualities, but was a ton of work). Well it’s been several years again and I tried to pick it up and had to perform a massive update, as expected. I was then also offered to upgrade to the Battlechest giving remastered versions of W1 and W2 which I grabbed instantly. However this has changed the interface for W3 and I am a touch confused about it.
Upon opening my map I get a slew of ‘Cannot load: xyz’ messages and many of the remastered skins have reverted to original W3 skins and indeed it seems the majority of basic units have as well when I try to add new ones. Have I missed something? Is there an option to switch between original and remastered? I’d hate to have to remake the map Again, but would if I had to for it to work correctly. I would not bother however if it will be in the original skins. Nostalgias great and all but for all I’ve put into this map (it’s essentially a whole game of its own) it deserves the remastered edge and wouldn’t be worth my time otherwise.
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I’m hoping there’s an easy fix I’m just not seeing. Thanks!
EDIT: I had a separate map as a utility for building it i called 'Lore Tester" where i chose what models to use for what units etc, essentially a small map Filled with units in different groups representing a large portion of the models available i had favored.
Loading this up I get a vast mix of remastered and original skins. Lore Tester had been All remastered skins before for sure, but now the remasters are a minority. Has Blizzard stopped supporting the editor? Not adding new skins is one thing, but have they Decreased the amount available? That seems odd, but the fact that I have both active is troubling.
EDIT 2: I want to just try a fresh install, but the option to Uninstall is greyed out? Lol what in the world I’ve never seen a game not allow you to uninstall it, that means its cursed where I come from lol
