Have you purchased Reforged?
It has the Reforged Logo on it so I guess have it.
Im reinstalling it now se what habppens.
The whole game was rebanded as Reforged, so logos will be the same for everyone. However, the HD mode (often referred to as Reforged or Reforged mode) has to be purchased. Otherwise only the SD mode (aka Classic mode) is available.
I suspect you haven’t because the error message is something that only shows to those who haven’t purchased.
War 3 doesn’t have separate launchers or intro pages like Command & Conquer where you can choose which version to start. There’s only one client, and Reforged features are toggled in the options menu.
The message you’re seeing usually appears if you try to change the mode while a game session is active , or if the client doesn’t detect that Reforged update from 2020 is purchased. Fully exiting the game or restarting the client normally lets you switch options without error.
If it still doesn’t work after a restart, then uninstall and fresh reinstall, and if still not work open a Support Ticket to Blizzard, asking to check your account.
(I hope your hardware is ok, so is not like other case where they missed the dedicated video card, and integrated could not handle.)
…That explains it. Im getting (EA Games) vibes From Battle net now.
But thanks for all the help and support.
So which is it finally?
are you having just the old version, or the 2020 Reforged version as well?
That’s only if you purchased Reforged and it’s not granting you access to the HD mode. If you did not purchase, none of that will have any effect.
I have the old Verision. It’s confusing that thay call the old verision reforged.
Yes you are right. But unforunately Blizz choosed to do this way.
I prefer better the start menu from Command & Conquer 3 (Tiberium Wars vs. Kane’s Wrath), there you start the game and immediately you choose which variant you want to play.
Or another better example is on Steam: Age of Empires 2 (HD Edition vs. Definitive Edition).
(Plus I got the very old edition on my PC, so actually I have 3x AoE2 games they not mixed toghether).
You mentioned you see “Reforged” and that you see the game mode toggle. That indicates that you do indeed have the new version, which is named “Warcraft 3: Reforged”, or “Reforged” for short.
Reforged has two modes within it: “Reforged” and “Classic” (hence, the toggle). Classic mode is available to anyone who has previously linked their RoC CD key to their Battlenet account. Reforged mode needs to be purchased.
The “old” version is original, pre-Reforged versions.
