As an experienced Warcraft 3 player since 2005, I would like to share my thoughts on the game after watching/reading the feedbacks from all casters/semi and full-time pros.
Please find my analysis and recommendations below :
Currently the 2 most imbalanced MU are :
NE > ORC and NE > HU which clearly shows that NE should be slightly adjusted to make the game balanced.
Neutral :
Item Crystall Ball should be reworked
Idea 1: reveal time should be doubled to make it useful as currently almost everybody is selling it.
Idea 2: double the reveal zone radius
Idea 3: Keep the reveal of hidden units even if they go outside the radius zone
Best idea would be a mixture of the 3 ideas above.
Item - The algorythm for auras’ drops should be reworked based on the race of the players. Item drops should include only auras that both races don’t have by nature of their race. For ex if a HUM player is playing vs UD, the The Lion Horn of Stormwind item drop should be removed and a NE or ORC aura should drop instead.
Increase aura drops by at least 25% to encourage creeping, too many rings drops that are not fun at all.
Item availability time in the shops could be changed to bring some fresh air. Many pro players know them by heart and little changes/adjustments would make it more fun. For ex: add +10 sec for boots to appear in shop, reduce dust availability by 10 sec.
Nightelf :
Reduce Tier 1 Unit Production Speed :
Slightly slow down the production speed of Night Elf Tier 1 units, such as Huntresses or Archers, to give Orc players more time to prepare and counter.
For example by 2 seconds. In most cases NE players are going for 2 or even 3 AoW anyway.
Moon Wells: Healing Rate: Slightly reduce the rate at which Moon Wells replenish health and mana. This would make it more challenging for Night Elf to heal and sustain their Tier 1 units constantly.
Druid of the talons need nerf of the Attack range in Crow from 600 to 500.
Wisps
1/ by exploding they should dispell both friendly and enemy spells (currently it’s bugged as they only remove enemy’s spell)
2/ should not be able to hide on trees in a way that it’s impossible to be killed by melee unit
Heroes like Dread Lord, Priest of the Moon should be buffed to make them more “meta-friendly”.
Idea: +2 agility on both heroes.
Observations to current PTR adjustments:
Militia duration increased from 42.5 to 45 seconds – 42.5 seconds is optimal. Everybody agrees that HUM is already the best race for expansion. Militia duration is not the most important.
Bash Bonus Damage increased from 25/50/75 to 25/50/100 – ok, can be fun to watch
Bash Stun duration increased from 2/2/2 to 2/4/6 (1/2/3 for Heroes) - ok, can be fun to watch
Bash Chance reduced from 20/30/40 to 25/25/25 - ok
Devotion Aura reduced from 3/6/9 to 3/4/6 – Devotion is aleady imba, better put 2/4/6 to force the players to creep before pushing the ennemy base
Keep food increased from 12 to 14 - ok
Castle food increased from 12 to 16 - ok
Immolation activation cost increased from 5 to 10 – should be increased to 20 to force the NE player to care about that imba spell
Immolation damaged reduced from 6/11/17 to 5.5/11/17 – good change
Mana Flare range reduced from 750 to 650 – good change
Fan of Knives max total damage changed from 480/800/1200 to 375/ 750/1330 (Unit cap increased to 4/5/5 to 5/6/7) – controversive change, requires further testing
Druid of the Claw starting mana increased from 100 to 110 – not needed
Abomination collision size reduced from 48 to 40 - ok
Abomination turn rate increased from 0.4 to 0.5 – good change
Crypt Fiend turn rate increased from 0.5 to 0.6 – good change
Bladestorm damage reduced from 160 damage per second to 140 damage per second - – good change
Troll headhunter hit points increased from 350 to 375 – good change
Firelord Incenerate mana cost reduced from 6 to 2 – good change
Firelord Lava Split requirement reduced from 12 to 9 – could be too strong, I would go with 10
Firelord Volcano Damage increased from 100 to 150 - ok
Staff of Teleportation now has a stock of 2 charges in the shop - NOT needed
Crystal Ball moved from level 3 to 2 - ok
What is very important to notice is that all changes are related between each others and should all be implemented then tested till end of November.
