They don’t have the original team anymore, the classic team that developed Reforged has also been dismantled for years. They are all gone.
They would have to hire new devs.
How did you not know this?
Those people your talking about were the same people who made Stormforge…
Others went to other game companies years ago and have since developed new games for other companies…
What dev team?! The ones they haven’t hired or the ones that since left the company?
Wait did you assume when Microsoft took over the company they rehired all the original team back?
None of this shows the need for Naga as a melee 5th race, nor does it show that Blizzard has been successful in the profits for Reforged.
All you did prove here was the community is what drives this game which what I have been explaining the entire time, but you seem to think Devs and making an official naga by blizzard is what will make this game profitable…
Profit is the only thing that would have them come back to this game and once again I ask you,
Are you suggesting a 3rd Re-release of Warcraft III: Reforged?
At Blizzard under the “Classic Games” umbrella you have:
Warcraft RTS(internal team with an external support team) that works in WC3:R and also did WC1:R and WC2:R. Every single WC3:R patch and hotfix is done by them from the ground up.
HOTS(internal team).
SC2 and SC:R no longer have any year round dedicated devs working on them since October 2020 when all the SC2 devs left Blizzard to create Frost Giant.
That’s why SC2 and SC:R are in maintenance mode with no new monetization content. SC:R hasn’t got a new update since 2024.
The only games at Blizzard that are in maintenance mode with no new monetization content are SC2, SC:R, and Warcraft Rumble.
You have your timelines all wrong.
The Microsoft purchase of Activision-Blizzard-King was in 2023.
Patch 2.0.0 came out in 2024.
Patch 2.0.1 came out in 2024.
Patch 2.0.2 came out in 2025.
Patch 2.0.3 came out in 2025.
Patch 2.0.4 came out in 2026.
All WC3:R patches are done by the Warcraft RTS team at Blizzard.
Have you ever looked at BlizzTrack and seen how many updated WC3:R has been getting for all it’s client versions?. They are very proactive.
WC3 came out in 2003.
It was remastered in 2020.
If you look at all the changes WC3:R has been getting since 2.0.0 from the technical data side on the backend, it’s being done by a very solid dev team.
Only the SC2/SC:R devs left back in October 2020. The “Classic Games” still had the WC3:R devs and the HOTS devs.
No they can’t, not unless it would become successful (profitable)
You’re still not getting it. The game is a business model. It’s past its profiteering margin. What’s left is for those who own/bought the game, not for rebranding, relaunching.
You’re still not taking in account the launch of Reforged, nor the 2.0 launch.
Again I ask you, are you expecting a 3rd relaunch of Warcraft III: Reforged?
Once this gets answered I’ll be back.
You keep avoiding it so I’ll leave it with you.
WC3:R like HOTS, can still make new monetization content. They have no restrictions on it.
How much would you be willing to pay for the entire Naga as a fully playable race in WC3:R?.
How much would you be willing to pay for the entire Demons/Legion as a fully playable race in WC3:R?.
No new campaigns to go along with them. Just the races themselves.
That would be 3.0.0 wouldn’t it?.
WC3:R is still waiting on 2.0.5 to come out.
Adding the Naga wouldn’t be comparable to relaunching the game. Look at how AOE does it’s new content or how Total War does it’s new content or how Tempest Rising is adding it’s new 3rd faction as a fully playable race.
It must be surreal for the WC3:R/Warcraft RTS devs sitting in Irvine right now reading that apparently they “don’t exist”.
Have you looked at how other RTS games, Strategy Games, and Grand Strategy Games add new content with new playable races/factions as content?.
They either add them directly to the core game or they are put as DLC for the core game or as their own expansion to the core game.
You said that Blizzard wouldn’t do it unless it also made them money.
Adding the Naga as a new race would increase sales of WC3:R and any Warcraft RTS game bundles.
If you make the Naga have a purchase cost to unlock them, players would purchase it in high numbers.
Look at how much money the SC2 Coop Commanders brought in along with the SC2 War Chest skins from 2015-2020, it made SC2 preform comparable or higher than Hearthstone. Every new release was selling better than the last, there was huge demand for those things and the SC2 community was buying them up like hotcakes.
It would be a huge deal. Frozen Throne level.
Adding a whole new playable race to WC3 after 23 years would be a earthshattering for Blizzard and the entire RTS community and the entire Warcraft community.
Then by all means, they can send a comment on the forums.
I’m saying the original team doesn’t exist. That the Warcraft RTS team is no a Dev Team, they work on updates, balance, fixes. They don’t release new content as a Dev Team.
But fine, I’ll let them correct me on this, but for now, let’s just agree to disagree. That’s not what we are talking about anyways.
Where are you getting these “facts” from?
This is imaginative, a dream, a want, nothing more.
TFT was an expansion.
That would mean it would be a new race would also be an expansion? So this would be bigger then reforged itself…and would need a campaign as TFT was also multiple campaigns.
I disagree that this idea would be as big as TFT, I’m sorry.
From player buying habits in other RTS/Strategy/Grand Strategy games when it comes to new content and new monetization content and when new playable races/factions are added to those game.
Oh I do.
Blizzcon this year will be monumental for Warcraft as a franchise.
WC3:R shouldn’t sit this one out, wouldn’t you agree?.
The community shows that Blizzard can do it if they wanted to do it.
Same thing with all these private WoW servers being shut down, not just due to the legal IP stuff but also because of all the features/additions/content in them that Blizzard also wants to put into the official WoW itself.
If a single community person can make the Naga into a fully playable race using the World Editor, but a professional Blizzard dev team at Irvine can’t. That certainly raises questions about the dev team doesn’t it?.
Warcraft at Blizzcon is setting up decades of new games, new game content, and new multimedia for those games.
WC3:R shouldn’t be left out in the cold, when without WC3 there wouldn’t have been a WoW.
