Make the Naga a fully playable race after Blizzcon 2026

Put WC3:R and Warcraft RTS and Blizzard RTS back on the map with this move.

Can you comprehend the level of interest and hype this would generate?.

Announce at Blizzcon as part of the “Everything Warcraft” and “The next 20 years of Warcraft”.

The Naga was going to a playable WoW race. If/When that returns in the future for WoW(along with playable Ogres), it would be a very good business move to make the Naga a playable race in WC3:R.

1) The Naga already have all it’s units, tech trees, buildings, abilities, announcers, voice lines, heros, items, etc done.

Everything to make the Naga a fully playable race is already there and is already done.

Go check the files/data and the World Editor. It can be done.

Go look at the WC3:R campaign maps where you face the Naga as enemies.

Go look at the Night Sentinels Campaign where you can play as the Naga and have access to the Naga tech tree.

This isn’t starting from scratch with no assets existing at all.

It is easier to make the Naga a fully playable race than it is the Demons/Legion. That’s why it would be good to start with the Naga first, then take the experience from that and apply it to the Demons/Legion.

WC3:R has a PTR for testing to iron out any bugs or balance issues. It can be (and should be) used for the Naga testing before full release.

2) Custom Map Makers/World Editor Makers have shown you can make the Naga(and Demons/Legion) fully playable races.

To go full “Tony Stark built this in a cave with a box of scraps”, if they can do this than the Blizzard Warcraft RTS team can do this:

If you go on Youtube and just search “Naga Warcraft 3” or “Naga WC3” or “Naga WCIII” or “Naga Warcraft III” there are thousands of videos showing different mods with playable Naga that have been made over the years.

You`re so naive))) They doesn`t fix that laggy menu since release date in 2020. Naga as a fully playable race…xD

Naga as a playable race in WC3:R can be done.

I’ve shown where to look at in the WC3:R campaigns and the WC3:R World Editor data/files.

I’ve shown how the WC3 community has been able to successfully do it dozens and dozens of times over the years for different maps/mods.

6-12 months of dev time.

4-6 months of PTR testing before release.

Those are realistic parameters based on how much the Naga is already finished and is already playable.

Also factoring in making the Naga selectable/displayed equally like the rest of the WC3 playable races when it comes to UI/icons/etc.

Yes, it can be done(like fix laggy menu) but it never be done! Because it`s modern Blizzard:)). That what i`am talking about.

Great idea, but now the forum professionals will tell you that “noobs can’t even play on basic maps,” “they lose trees when creeping on green points,” “there’s no need to introduce anything new because it will kill the game,” and other incomprehensible sheepish bleating.

Thanks for the topic. :slightly_smiling_face:
I was just saying that this is also my biggest wish for Reforged.
They should make one expansion and add the Naga as the 5-th playable race.

How would making naga a playable race put them back in the map?

It would just be an update of new content.

The community already has naga as a playable race.
Blizzard would be criticized for adding their official version because they would compare to the community version and many would say Blizzard isn’t good enough. Further putting bad rep on the game and the company.

It’s not a right move, it would not increase their sales and I would show that they don’t care about the game as much as the community does.

On the other hand, approving community maps like they used to back in the day would activate more interest again and you could then have a naga race that blizzard chose to be their votes choice on a map.

That could inspiration, but coming up with their own race once again, only diminishes what the classic was great for.

Exactly.

How many years has it been since WC3 has had a new content update?.

How many years have people been asking for Naga to be a fully playable race in WC3?.

How many years has everything to make Naga a fully playable race in WC3 been sitting in WC3?.

This would generate massive interest in WC3 and Warcraft RTS games.

It would revolutionize WC3.

What are you even talking about?.

Adding the Naga to WC3:R would be the biggest update WC3 has had since the Frozen Throne expansion pack.

I wouldn’t say “everything” is fully ready to make it a playable race

Would need 3 more heroes (assuming we would remove Naga Sea Witch from tavern) which also implies new unique hero abilities and new voicelines, tier 3 hall upgrade, new units and buildings, unit balancing (the flying serpents are really broken, for only 2 food). Would need major balancing around other races overall

But this would definitely be awesome, would add a fresh feeling to the game and something to be excited about.

If AOE2 can get new content updates, so can WC3:R.

WC3:R can get new content flowing, if they actually wanted to do so.

There wouldn’t be a WoW without the success of Warcraft RTS, especially WC3.

Blizzcon would be the perfect place to announce it. Blizzard wants to do “big things” for the entire Warcraft brand.

What would be bigger for WC3:R than to announce that the Naga is coming to WC3:R as a fully playable race?.

Exactly.

The Naga should be the 5th playable race and the Demons/Legion should be the 6th playable race.

WC3:R has so much potential to surpass the original WC3.

That’s why WC3:R has a PTR for testing. It can be proactively worked on and playtested.

Getting the Naga into WC3:R as a fully playable race would have incredible payoff for the game if done right.

Yeah I’d say this is a no, but I like where your head is at. Invest in community projects, this is what makes Warcraft III great!

Frozen Throne came out in 2003.

It’s time to make the Naga an official fully playable WC3:R race.

Yes and after all it’s been through it would receive heavy heavy criticism…

I don’t understand how you don’t see that. Look at the bigger picture here as a Game company, and as Warcraft III as a whole.

How would they make a profit as a company, they would get serious criticism.

Plus not to mention the balance changes it would have to go through.

It’s not as simple to just add a 5th (or even 6th race)

Tons of hours have to be put in by the dev team which they don’t have so they would have to hire them. They would have to pay them for balance adjustments… it’s a loss not a profit.

So Blizzard would not be doing this at all. Microsoft would not waste resources for this.

However community driven projects they wouldn’t have to have devs for.

Plus the community who makes the projects put their own blood sweat tears (volunteer work) and would follow it through more then the company hiring new devs for a game that they no longer see as profitable.

I love Warcraft III, I do, but I know the company isn’t in love with the game as much as we are. I don’t know how you don’t see that.

Adding Naga to WC3:R is less of an undertaking than giving WC3:R a whole new Frozen Throne level expansion with a Naga Campaign.

Naga would be a huge selling point for WC3:R and Warcraft RTS collection bundles.

There is value here.

That’s a want, not a need.

Understand the difference here.

Find a community driven project such as the new 3 races on a very popular naga race map. It’s gotten a lot of traction, why expect Blizzard instead when they have out tons of effort into it?

You’re not getting it, they don’t offer that for Warcraft III, do you not understand how business models work?

Warcraft III: Reforged is a remastered of a beloved classic, not a new race addition.

Ask top players like Grubby, they love the classic!
Changing it would just drive fans further away, much like the failed launch of Reforged itself.

What you’re asking for… is a want. So find an already created, community driven project, and support it.

Why does it NEED to be Blizzard Dev made?

Because they never realized there was a demand for it after all these years.

WC3 came out in 2003. Then all development focus went to WoW.

WC3 was going to get the Naga as a playable race after WoW was going to release originally with the Naga as a playable race.

WC3:R is a chance for a brighter future, a new future.

When is the last time you have ever opened up the World Editor and looked at all the Naga stuff in it?.

Because it already IS Blizzard dev made.

It’s been made since 2003.

The numbers AOE2 is getting and the numbers Diablo 2 is getting say otherwise.

That’s what Microsoft did with patch 2.0
Look how that turned out…

Are you suggesting a 3rd re-release of Reforged?!!

That’s the thing, there isn’t a demand for it. It’s not a need, it’s a want.

That’s an assumption here, look up the community website and search for my name, then look up naga.

Again search for me name if you want the answer to that question.

That wasn’t a fully fledged out race. I thought you knew that. Plus that campaign naga race even close to balanced for melee play vs the other 4 races.

This is why I suggested a community project. It has worked on making it a custom race for the enjoyment of what others like to see.

After all, 6 races were originally planned for Warcraft III.

You clearly do not understand that. Further proving your want over the need.

That’s an entirely different game completely and if you really look at those numbers… you know it’s not been successful even with ROTW, but this is way off topic here.

The point you tried to make failed because that has not been a profitable remake. Even when you add ROTW

WC3:R is doing comparable to AOE. Player counts have spiked in every region after every major patch.

WC3:R is bringing in more Twitch numbers per day than SC2 and SC:R.

WC3:R actually has equal or more players than SC2 on some regions.

WC3:R is beating SC:R in player numbers outside of KR in every region.

When is the last time you looked at ALL WC3 missions that have the Naga in them?.

When is the last time you played the Night Sentinels campaign and played the missions you could use the Naga?.

Short term, long term is has done very well as the game improved.

So you make the Naga race more flushed out and balance it for melee play.

That’s why the PTR exists, for long term testing.
