Ya, the constant disconnects in 3v3 RT and sometimes when a game is found were bad enough, but now it’s literally impossible to have the game run for more than ten minutes without closing.
Grubby’s Invitationals have generated a lot of goodwill and newcomers for Blizzard — it would be extremely unfortunate to have all that gone to waste because game-breaking bugs are not fixed with great urgency.
At this point it’s been more than a week with not even an acknowledgement from Blizzard.

Ok I come with some news: I was able to fix it, but the fix was a fresh windows installation
My findings tho: it doesn’t appear to be related to my AV or the version of the nvidia driver (I’m running 576.28)
I’m starting to think the culprit was my 2 SSD being into raid 0 mode, I left one unallocated and installed the game on the same ssd battle.net is installed now, and it has been running for 30 minutes without any crashes so far
Also also: I’m running windows ver 26100.3775
I did the video drivers, and suspecting my SSD as well, ended up swapping it for another. Fresh install of Windows was next on my list, until I found this thread.
Quick update. For me, the crashing isn’t consistent. Some days when I try, no crash, and I can play normally. Other times, I can’t stay in ANY game for longer than ~2 minutes before crash. For right now, it’s been working so I’m playing normally.
2nd note. When the crashing is happening and I cannot play, I’ll load up Starcraft Brood War, and the SAME THING happens in that game (crash after ~2 minutes of gameplay). I didn’t see anyone post about it on the SC forums though. Because the crashing was happening on more than one game, I thought it was my PC for SURE… but now you all are saying that you’ve experienced the same thing. Very confused.
In my case, every time it crashes, I loose my connection to battle.net for approximately 2 seconds. Does this happen to anyone else? (the icon changes from green to red)
I thought it was too subtle for anyone to care but I did catch a glimpse of this happening too at the moment of the crash.
When my game was still crashing I tried to bypass battle net (by using the -launch option directly on the exe) but it did nothing for the crash problem
Just like the others, after a few minutes, the game crashes. I was trying all you said, reinstalling the game, low graphics, window mode (full and not full), compatibility mode with windows 7, 8, XP, launching the exe file like admin, closing all the other apps in my PC, and nothing, absolutely nothing works. Unfortunately, for the time I spent playing, Battle net will not refund my money.
I hope some day they will take seriously to us, the players, and solve this problem.
For now, the only way to play the game, is saving the game every 2 minutes, an back to that point, play another minutes, save, crash, back.
Good luck for all of us, fellas.
Guys, I’m on to something. I’m pretty sure it’s Bonjour causing the client to close.
Edit: nvm. but getting closer.
No… I’ve never heard of nor had Bonjour on my PC.
KK, just finally saw a log of something from Bonjour when SC:BW closed.
So now I’m thinking it could be the Battle.net Launcher? Doing some tests, brb.
FOUND THE PROBLEM. Well at least a log of the issue. It’s Agent.exe (a bnet process) and it has logs spamming errors about invalid signature or something when handling a version refresh event.
Guys, try this and see if it fixes. Currently it works for me:
Note: after you delete that stuff, you need to re-locate your games from the battle net launcher (Settings → Downloads → Scan for Games)

Hi DyS. Your solution worked for me. However, this is the complete story:
First, I deleted battle.net. Then, I reinstalled battle.net. After reinstallation, battle.net did not allow me to reinstall warcraft 3 from the app (I have an old CD Key). So, I used this method (which always used to work): How to Install Warcraft III: Reforged & Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne - Blizzard Support. However, they seem to have changed the method of downloading legacy Warcraft 3. Before, this link opened an installer directly from the battle.net app. Now the link downloads a sort of ‘‘CD installation version’’ (a War3-1.27-Installer-enUS-TFT folder). The ‘‘CD installation version’’ did not work for me, so I bought Reforged… After installing Reforged, the game seems to work. I will let you know in a couple days if everything is stable.

K, deleting bnet cache doesn’t work. I’m still gettin closer to finding out what it is.
Does everyone with this issue have their Battle.net set to run when u start ur PC ?
Also does anyone have this issue that does NOT have and old cd key? cuz I have one too… hmm
Mine is, so when I start my PC, then wc3, I can see one of Agent.exe’s logs being spammed with some error. Very quickly, the log gets up to like 1 mb with the same error over and over. After that, if I close Battle.net Launcher, and then end Agent.exe process with task manager, THEN run bnet launcher, and start wc3, it works fine (no errors).
dont have time to test more, but i could play 1 bnet game and have a single player game running for close to an hour, which wasnt possible before.
i did the following:
- close all open processes with agent, battlenet*, warcraft
- run agent.exe as administrator (mine is in C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\Agent.<4 digit number>, if you have multiple make sure to get the right one, the one which usually is started when starting battle net launcher)
- run “C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net\Battle.net Launcher.exe” as administrator
- run wc3 via bnet launcher
i already forgot the details, but they use kind of a microservice architecture where these programs communicate over rest api via tcp loopback, and for some reason the http response from agent to game (or vice versa? agent was running on port 1120 i believe) was always 401 unauthorized when answering a certain (again, i already forgot the details) GET request, GET /gamesession or such.
anyway it worked for 1 1/2 hours, usually it quit after like 5 minutes, and when i reran without admin, it unintentionally exited again. i will write again if it fails to work next time.
I turned off “Start Bnet Launcher when i start my PC” and it seems to be working.
Agreed tho, it’s definitely something with Agent.exe
i had w3champions games running as observer on the side for few hours now (flo tv) and the issue did not occur. seems to be a reliable workaround. basically, just run agent.exe manually as admin before everything else.
Update since May 7:
-since I reinstalled Battle.net and Warcraft 3, I was able to play 20 games on May 7/8/9 with no problems (pvp 1v1 and ffa, 20 minute average length).
-this morning (May 10), the issue/crash started again. I played three “1vs computer” and one “1v1 pvp”. In all games, the crash occured at around 5 minutes. Also, the game crashes from the menu screen if I leave it there for approximately 5 minutes.
-I tried to run the game with battle.net offline (Play Offline within War Craft 3). When I played “1vs computer”, the game crashed in the same manner after 5 minutes.
-Then I deleted/uninstalled all battle.net and war craft 3 files. I was able to play one “1vs computer” game.
Additional notes:
-when the crash occurs, the avatar icon in the battle.net app goes from “online” to “busy” (in a previous post I said it went offline but that is not accurate)
Thoughts:
-If this was a battle.net / server / traffic problem then I would not expect the game to crash offline. Maybe there is a bug within War Craft 3 itself.
I had the same issue.
On the 9 May 2025, I could play normally during the evening (2V2 games or 3V3 games + custom games) and then around 1am (10/05), anytime I wanted to launch a game (3V3 or custom game - usually Legion TD), then game directly crashes when the game starts with an error message … 081E3B41-681B-4C72-9232-ECF5BCFB5528
Does anyone know how to fix it please ?
its very annoying… I can’t play anymore
Thanks
I think I’ve found the solution for a fix.

Update (May14):
-On May 10, I reinstalled battlenet/Warcraft3.
-I Played 20 games sucessfully (game time around 20 min) from May 10 to May 14.
-On May 14, I got three crashes at 1-4 minutes.
-First, I uninstalled and reinstalled WC3. I still got the crash.
-Second, I deleted all WC3 folders and uninstalled and reinstalled WC3. I still got the crash.
-Third, I reinstalled battlenet (without unistalling it first). I was then able to play a full game without crashing.
Question:
-Is there a file in Battlenet app that is getting corrupt and affecting War Craft 3 after a certain number of games (whether or not War Craft 3 is played online or offline)?
