Lag on wc3 server!

The WC3 server has been lñaggin for about 10 days now. Game developers, please, the game is unplayable because the connection is unstable, there´s too much delay, sometime it´s fine but other times it´s bad!!!

It’s not the server, it’s your proximity to it. If there is an Asian player in your game, you may get connected to a game in Asia when you are far away from there, or vice versa.

Unfortunately the game is designed to allow this because the playerbase isn’t large enough to hard seperate players by region. This could be partially mitigated by having servers in more locations, as players have regularly suggested, but that costs money so it’s a hard sell.

In addition, ther’es been an ongoing backbone ISP issue in certain parts of the US in the last few weeks affecting a number of online games, so if you’re connecting to the US gateway and playing US games with onyl US players and still lagging, that could be the cause, and a VPN might be able to mitigate it.

What you´re saying is false. Even when playing alone, the game has considerable lag, over 200 ms. About 10 days ago, it was around 130 ms. Please don´t comment if u don´t know what u are talking about. Developers, this seems to be a massive problem.

What I’m saying is true. I’ve been getting randomly disconnected from FFXIV, whose servers are in the same gerneral vincinity as the west coast battle.net servers. And i’ve heard of other issues with other games with servers in the same area.

If you’re playing alone why are you playing online? Use single player cuistom game mode.

Just because your experience doesn’t seem to line up with someone else doesn’t mean what they’re saying is false. You could be experiencing something entirely different (you’re not, as I said, you’re not the only one and this isn’t the only game where people have been h aving issues in recent days), Different situation != false sattement.

  1. I do know what I’m talking about
  2. you can’t tell me not to comment
  3. This is not an issue with the game itself and the developers cannot do anything about it. It is a server/datacenter/backbone internet problem. Not a problem with warcraft3.exe . Games don’t just randomly decide to make your ping bigger.

Ive discovered that the lag is due to being redirected to servers outside of the Americas, even when initially selecting the Americas region in Bnet. This connection to servers in places like London, Sydney, and Amsterdamn is causing the delay. Developers, please review the configuration because if we choose America as our region, we should only be connecting to servers in the Amercas, not on other continents, which is causing the lag and delay!!!

It’s not a bug, this occurs normally you play a game and someone from a different region happens to be in it. If the game was created on their region’s server, you will have higher ping and if it was created on your region, they will have higher ping.

This is BY DESIGN. There are not enough players, on the Asia gateway especially, so the game allows global matchmaking for Versus modes. This trades better wait times for worse pings in some cases. It kinda sucks but it is absolutely INTENDED BEHAVIOR. This is also allowed for Custom Games, but you can see the pings on games before joining them.

This is not new, it didn’t happen 2 weeks ago, and it’s not a bug with the game, it’s a design decision. There has not been a patch or change to the game which could cause something like this in the time period given.

Any lag issue that suddenly started happening and never happened before is also not a bug with the game but rather an internet infrastructure issue beyond Blizzard’s control.

The only true fix for this would be for Blizzzard to add servers in more locations, or disable cross region matching, which would likely result in longer queue times for everyone (especially on the Asia server)

U dont know what ur talking about, and you cant read or u have comprehesion problems. Im creating and starting the game ALONE (WITHOUT PLAYERS) to test the server that Battle.net assigns me to. If i enter the AMERICA region at the beggining, its because logically theyr going to connect u to a server in AMERICA and not in EUROPE. Plz kid, stop answer me, i need the BNET developers.

I know exactly what I’m talking about. Declaring something doesn’t make it so.

Please show your methodology for determining that your game was created in the wrong region. I can not reproduce your problem. Aside from this, Custom Games are still global, and a game being on any particular server only benefits the players from that region, while players from any region can and will join. So the extent to which this actually matters in the end is pretty low.

Acting childish only hurts your own credibility. Also, you won’t get any BNET developers here, because they don’t post here. Even if there was an actual bug, this is the technical support section, not the bug report section and it won’t be treated properly.

As of this post, the game hosting servers have been restarted and pings should be back to normal.

I confirmed that every game had a ping from another region, and then I checked again later and everything was normal again.
