Game is completely broken - related to Nov 2024 release

I am completely unable to play WC3 reforged. There are many symptoms, and the game appears to be basically completely broken, but to name a few…

  • The settings menu has no settings in it. The tabs are visible, but the area that would be populated by settings is blank
  • I cannot change it to “Reforged” graphics. The toggle is greyed out and a tooltip says I cannot change this setting while you’re in a game.
  • I cannot start a campaign. When I click play, the game hitches, the mouse disappears, and then nothing happens.
  • The exit game button in the main menu doesn’t work. It just does nothing.
  • When I play multiplayer, no custom games appear. I am unable to start a game (same behavior as attempting to start a campaign).
  • The World Editor also does not work. It loads the frames, but no information is populated.

I have tried:

  • Reinstalling the game client
  • Reinstalling battle.net
  • Using the Scan and Repair utility
  • Renaming my sound devices (? random advice someone had on the forum, although mine had default names?)
  • Deleted all battle.net related data in the user AppData (local, roaming, locallow)
  • No error logs are created. The Errors directory is empty.

Any ideas? Very disappointing that this issue has been ongoing for me for months.

Also the Warcraft III folder in your Documents folder, back it up (because it contains any custom maps you’ve played or made) and then delete it.
