Feedback on Beta

Howdy.
I’ve received the beta yesterday so i thought I’d drop my two cents.

Menus

  • Menu looks good. I am assuming it is unfinished and the BG is supposed to be animated before release. I’d like a possibility to swap to a tft-themed bg (perhaps after completing the first half of the campaign?)
  • On the menu, hotkeys in brackets after menuitems are not the best imo, it seems the first time i see on a blizz game. It is my opinion but i rather have them come up on pushing ALT or just as highlighted letters.
  • I understand this is the default Battlenet 2.0 look but i’d like chat rooms to be full-screen or at least wider.

In-game

  • I assume all perf issues will be addressed (AMD expecially, Nvidia seems to be somewhat better)
  • I assume the renderer is unfinished. Lighting needs work expecially. I’d like there to be some slider for increasing saturation, but it’s looking good for now.
  • Italian voiceover is a disaster. I have yet to listen to english voiceover but from italian it seems you have chosen to go for a somewhat higher pitch cartoon voice style and it is absolutely dreadful. Wc3 peasants consistently (in english and italian) sounded like a simple, middle aged tired worker. It now sounds like a literal retard in his 20ies.
  • Models looks sick. Absolutely great. Some i dislike on a design level, (e.g. mud golems having molten streaks), but that’s mostly my opinion. Texture, animations, all great. I cannot wait to see them on the finished render.
  • Some heroes are hard to spot. (mk)
  • Some units have weak team colors (i will make a list as soon as i have the time).
  • I am assuming that portraits will talk in sync with voiceover at release, this is currently not the case.
  • I am assuming BGs are to be finished as well as the particicle renderer for portraits (expecially noticeable on elf eyes).
  • As many noted higher detail makes unit proportions related to buildings stick up a little more. I don’t think this should be changed though and that it is only a matter of getting used to.
  • Buildings lack proper ground texture. I am assuming this is under works, but if it isn’t it should be really considered for final release.

Some things are clearly the way they are because they are unfinished so i won’t talk about those. Overall it seems to be a somewhat crude build for a public beta, but it’s nice.

I also think you should definitely scrap the bug report forum and host a decent issue tracker.
