Ye that makes sense, but we both forgot to mention something:
The in-game communication
Start WC3 → Go on Bnet → Join channel → talk with people
There was a simple way to aggregate likeminded people. You didn’t have to learn from a video or boring games. You could join a friendly game and learn, or you could whisper to a random player you met and join another one. Big simple chats. No unbelievably stupid double names in game, no blocks besides the funny flooding. The best of WC3 have always been the chats. In reforged that is completely gone.
If there was a chance to make this game nicer or at least as nice as it was, it’s gone.
Well, what people could have done was to try again to build communities via hosting bots maybe… but that’s gone too…

I can see where you are coming from, but I can also immediately see how badly this can backfire. If this is implemented, the same day you will get swarms of trolls who will block the exits from your base with their buildings, and then you would have no way to counter that. Currently you can at least notice if your teammates are building anything in your base, sternly tell them to stop, and if they don’t, kill whatever is that they are building. Personally, among all of the allied building types, I only ever tolerated shops in my base, and no more than one per base. That was the only building I let anywhere closer than a catapult attack range from my nearest building. Everything else, even the moonwells, were demolished the moment it was erected like it was hostile, with an unambiguous warning and an accompanying tk threat. Worked like a charm every time. Now, if there was a command to instantly kill allied buildings within the certain distance of a goldmine that you are controlling, that could be a different story. But that too would probably also get somehow abused by the smarties. The only viable solution to these, and many other exploits that I can think of, has already been well narrated here:
and the only thing that I could add to that, is that there many many other outcomes that can result from teaming with unknown people, and while tk is one of the worst ones, its not the only one. The random group finder is basically a gamble. you have nigh zero chance to know the outcome, and realistically it is pure luck that makes the call here before the game even started. Sure, things improve with rating, and you get better teammates, and less throwers, but you get better opponents also, so overall it does not make that much of a difference, while if you are playing together with a trusted ally, you can rule out a lot of critical uncertainties that should not even be there in the first place, and the chance of you having a higher quality game increases exponentially.

I say get rid of it, they promised to ban trolls/griefers/flamers yet all they get is slaps on the wrist and as some posters above have alluded now it has broken down into a clique circle jerk community.

Good to know you guys are very fluent and articulate with your computer game programming code. Thank you for educating us and helping us understand with your in depth knowledge of what life for a person with a 3rd year or up to 20th year of expertise in Warcraft 3 programming language skills is all about.
Actually, who still really cares about ranked play? i mean. We are all bunches of old people playing old games. How many are still active? I would prefer to have what was offered in 1.32 even if it’s unranked play, because that was so much fun: fast game searches every less than 1-2min . regardless of the game mode, 1s,2s,3s,4s … after the 1.33-1.34 patch was released. It spoiled all the fun!
I mean BLIZZARD.If you want to sugarcoat those who complain about not being competitive in ranked play, just make that for them in 1v1. That is the way to go. Let them prove their skill and brag about it. However, the majority of the 2s, 3s, and 4s just want to relax and play games, and we want more games and play time!
Just add more servers for better ping. especially ASIA player who connecting to USA server

Plenty of people do. But that number is declining the longer it’s non-functional.

I think W3Champions is very useful for wc3 online mode.

well, that’s kind of the whole purpose behind it…
However, my feeling is that in the current state of things, W3C needs to exist. I would actually prefer that it didn’t need to, because it divides the community, but Ranked is still only partially functional and some players, especially those in the southern hemisphere, can’t get an acceptable ping on bnet because of the limited number of regional servers implemented for this game.
Ideally Blizzard would address these two key problems which would reduce the need for a new or returning user to go find some third party mod just to be able to play (something that really shouldn’t be expected of anyone). But well, we don’t live in an ideal world I guess lol.

People like you ruining games for everyone else deserve to stay off competitive platforms. There’s a reason why moderators ban you EVERY single time.
Mods at W3C do a stellar job as does the platform. But you can’t walk into a free country and start pissing on everything and then expect everyone to be okay with it.

Welcome to modern strategy games. Watch stupid videos of so called “pros” playing so called meta. Stick to your role, only win when the opponent is a noob. If you lose it is your fault. If everything goes bad cheat.
You are late for the “strategy” in strategy games… look what happened with dota and so on…
You would have really enjoyed play WC3 20 years ago.
Sure, but sadly there is no free country in this world

uh, no. TFT allows for way more strategies because there are way more tools available to you .Yes, certain ones are more popular i.e. meta, but there are tones of less meta ways to play that work just fine.

No, it’s really not that simple, and no, I’m not incorrect.
(Where’s the dislike button?)
It’s subjective, and while you may have a differing opinion, opinions are not facts.

Opinions can’t be incorrect, it’s that simple.
Now it’s time to grow up. You’re welcome to love RoC as much as you want, no one’s telling you you can’t, but your opinion is your opinion, and nothing else.

TFT has more units and a more flexible counter system. That is an objective fact, and it gives players more viable compositions to work with than are available in RoC.
RoC’s simplified counter system causes some problems for late-game diversity. Almost every T2/T3 unit has “heavy” (i.e. 2x pierce damage) armor, so the late-game can devolve into all ranged compositions or mass-air. Even Raiders have that armor type, which makes them particularly bad in RoC compared to TFT.

Internet cafes and LAN parties was the coolest place to hang out in the 2002s after school. Couldn’t afford Cable fast internet, ADSL back then and had to play Reign Of Chaos on a Windows XP. So grateful that we have Battle.Net and W3Champions now so i’ve learnt not to complain too much compared to what we had to go through, the lousy computers we had and type of internet we had 22 years ago. So many problems like disconnecting all the time halfway throughout a game, lagging, slow internet, outages, everytime when someone makes a call to your house phone your internet would cut out and no data flow and all those would be counted as a loss too so it was impossible to get a good win/loss record in the good old times.
RoC is ok at the start but then it got boring after a while as it would always be Gryphs, Wyverns/Wind Riders, Hippos FTW. Then TFT came in 2002 to spice things up and that was ever since then was the time when i got really addicted to The Frozen Throne.
Viiksivallu i’ve also played Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 when it first came out in the 90s so if you are looking for a game that allows for different strategies maybe you should try out these 2 previous Warcraft games as well for fun

I originally used W3C purely because it granted the ability to switch regions for the custom game list. But that’s global now, and for melee I’m just not competent enough for W3C which by its nature as a custom mod attracts the more serious veterans (for the most part). 1v1 is what I usually played because I didn’t have friends that played the game back in the day (and still don’t really), and RT was and still is too often a negative experience with toxic players on both sides.
1v1 ranked works just fine on bnet, there’s enough people playing that you generally see only players connecting via the same region. But team modes are another story, it takes more of the player pool to make them work which means particularly late at night, I see frequent Asia games which means 300+ ping, and not to mention the servers struggle to correctly record team games for whatever reason. W3C certainly addresses both of those problems, though it can’t address the toxic RT environment.
Since apparently there is another update coming that’s devoted to fixing bugs, I will cling to hope that they will fix the issues with team games and then ordinary people can buy/play the game and have it work without needing to find mods. That being said, these issues should have been gradually fixed with the patches rather than devoting a whole update to fixes after everything else.
I probably should be really cynical like everyone else lol. But I will retain optimism that things will get where they need to be before another 20 years pass and they announce Warcraft III Re-Reforged on some fancy new holoprojector system.

Deforged happened 18 years, later, if there is another DeDeforget after the same interval it means that 3 years have already passed.
Yes, this game is in this wrecked status since 3 Y E A R S.
So, it’s 15 years to go…
Suppose they will announce a presale 1 year earlier, it is 14 years…
Scary…

in another thread replying to me you said :
sounds like you have moved onto the cynical phase just like everyone else lol <3
in other news, it sounds like i should take the advice of everyone else and move onto w3champions for 4v4s and stop thinking Blizzard has the capacity or knowledge to fix a working ladder for whatever reason they refuse to discuss… RIP
