Blood mage needs some love

Not mentioning that was simply an oversight. That is all.

  1. First of all main game mode is 1v1 and always balance was around 1v1, thats why there is basically no serious tournaments around 2v2+. Like many things are broken in 2v2+, but blood mage must suffer in main game mode because he is kinda ok in 2v2+? Really?
  2. Blood mage is kinda ok in 2v2+ because of high amount of units who’s harder to micro out flamestrike, so instant flame strike will not do much there.

Flamestrike bloodmage has a problem because he is spending all his mana on flamestrike instead of giving it to MKing/Paladin/AM/Neutral hero.

Flamestrike is not a great spell.
It does okay damage but its spread over ~3 seconds and has a target cap.
It costs a monstrous 135 mana and can be easily interrupted.
And it requires all the skill points to be maxed, instead of investing into the much more useful Drain+Banish.
You also need to make Blood Mage early (first hero?) to get him to lvl5 asap for maxing Flamestrike damage.

Even if you make Flamestrike un-interruptible (like impale) it is still a really tough sell.

Maybe banish could not slow friendly units, so its best to save them. That could be neat. A shorter cast for Flamestrike and less mana would also be nice. Siphon is ok as it is I think

No slow banish for friendly unit its support bm buff, and its not needed. So maybe make all cast shorter like flamestrike? sweet sweet nova must cast 0.9 sec, attack friendly units, not attack air and can be missed while showing where nuke will be? Cast time on nuke ability in this game = cr@p ability. Even blizzard are better while am have best aura in the game and water tauren at t1… Like there is the reason why this hero is the most abandoned in the game.

I was thinking of it as a buff as first hero with syphon+banish. Maybe with that buff blood mage could be playable in some scenarios. Maybe if merc camp is available. On 50 vs 50 army, I don’t see it making that much but would be a more notable buff on early skirmish, where the life of each foot/merc matters more.

My goal is not shift the meta. Buffing anything except flamestrike will buff blood mage as a support, and everyone will whine about it. So i want the buff for this hero in place where am or mk still be better choices but bloodmage will be a little less frustrating to play.
