Ok, after THREE DAYS I finally got my game fixed, sort of. windowmode=1 does not work nor does windowmode=2. The game will only not totally crash on launch when using windowmode=0. After the game launches in windowed mode if i use the options to change the resolution to windowed fullscreen or fullscreen, then the game immediately crashes. My game did not initially install with the War3Preferences.txt file and I had to manually build it to configure the window mode. I’m sharing mine if you wish to try it. Get it at pastebin com/701VxTny. Just replace the one in your Warcraft III folder in the Documents Folder. Hopefully, Blizzard will get this fixed; however, I wouldn’t hold my breath as they have become extremely untrustworthy.

Well, it seems I have figured out the issue. I decided to leave it on that black screen, went and made a coffee, had a ciggy… returned to my pc about 10 minutes later and found the game on the title screen.

I then decided to use the trusty timer on my phone and actually see how long the game loading takes. 4 mins and 53 seconds…

Sooo… My prognosis is this: The game works fine but you have to be willing to wait a long time for it to load to the title screen. Once there it plays fine. Can’t say I’m massively impressed but at least it works.

Might wanna find a fix for this blizzard. My cancer stick consumption will likely increase and I’ll have to hold you accountable. :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

AMD Radeon RX 5700Xt user here

I had the screen going black back to game with 1 or 2 seconds interval in both full screen en windowed full screen. (i had a likewise issue with WoW every other time i launched the game)

What seem to have worked for me is turning off Free Sync (within the options menu of my screen).

No idea if the pure coincedence. Maybe for nvidia it’s g-sync?

Hello, i have same problems. But i can start the game with the Black screen. The first scene is good but after i have à New Black screen any sounds and any cursor. I have test the different soluce but any changment

Blizzard, I don’t want to pressure you, I guess you are doing a lot of work, but just to remind you that now we have a not running Reforged, but that also means that we have a not running classic, and no chance to play Warcraft whatsoever.

About my problem - I wrote many times - I couldn’t run the Beta even once, always crashes on start. Now it is the same with the actual game.

Hello!
Had same problem till 5 min ago.What solved for me is : google "c++ redistributable " and download from official Microsoft page .
No more black screen problems! (in my case atleast)
